Hey, that's OK. You saw the Broncos win, and that makes up for it. I was hoping to see more of Tatum Bell, but Ruben Droughns did admirably for us.

I watched the Mpeg that Laserschwert posted, and I have to admit there is no ghosting and the detail looks great, but what is up with the video jumping around so much? The stormtroopers are bouncing back and forth a lot. Anyway, just wondering if it is on Zion's original, or a result of Laserschwert's filter or the mpeg encoder.

Judging by the screencaps, I think TR-47's are too bright as well.

Keep up the excellent work Zion! Your screencaps keep looking better.

You have realized that the MPEG I posted is PAL, not NTSC... right?

Although it's strange that there's the "bounce", which normally only happens with interlaced footage... this one is progressive, though. I'll post an NTSC version later.

EDIT: OK, here's the NTSC-clip (720x480, anamorph, 23.976 fps).

NTSC has the same bounce. I've tried them on different computers to make sure it's not the video card. It could be a crappy codec though. I can only seem to find one freeware codec that plays mpeg2.

Maybe you should try opening the file(s) with a software DVD-player like WinDVD or PowerDVD.

I'm noticing the bounce too on both clips, using either PowerDVD or ZoomPlayer w/ OpenSource MPEG-2 decoder. Motion sickness aside, the color balance and detail look great so far!

Edit: Opening the clip in VirtualDub Mod, you can actually see the whole picture contort to the left slightly from frame# 300-304 (NTSC version).

OHHH, you mean that "bounce"... I thought you meant jerky frames. No, THAT bounce was already on Zion's capture. If you look closely, you see that the image doesn't just shift, it literally "waves" like a flag (in frame 302 the lower part of the image moves to the left, and in frame 303 the upper part follows... looks like some analogue error... old videotapes sometimes show this artifact). I am not sure if this is already on the laserdisc, or if it occured during capturing.

Zion?

Laserschwert - Where is your thread??

I don't need one... I am just helping Zion

I could never do a complete bootleg-set... right now I am fighting for every single GB on my harddrive just to get my "Brisco County Jr." DVD-box done.

Also, I don't know if you notice this or not, but you colors are all over the place. I realize you are dealing with a shaky source material but the white goes from blue to red and back again a few times.

"just to get my "Brisco County Jr." DVD-box done."

LOL. Is that show on DVD yet? Officially, I mean.

No, no Brisco on DVD... not even planned (according to the OFFICIAL Warner "not planned to be released on DVD"-list). That's why I have to do it myself. I've already done a 6-disc "Parker Lewis Can't Lose"-set

ROFL. That series ROCKED! I saw some episodes on Myspleen. Is that where you got them from?

Dude, we've already changed mails on an almost regular basis... I am Jan! But no trading yet, the Brisco-set isn't even close to being finished. By the way, it's gonna be in PAL, and it's gonna have a German language track (besides the English one, of course). And regarding "Parker Lewis", no, didn't get it from MySpleen, I got it from eDonkey a while ago (in German, so it wouldn't be too interesting for you).

HAHAHAHAHA

That's what happens when you get a zillion emails - I forget screen names vs. "real" names

So zion, what's with the waviness of the video clip?

Just had a look at my TR47 Star Wars disc and it´s got the "shakies" as well. So this is something that is probably ported over from the laserdisc source. You´ll notice this shake throughout the movie (also the sequels) especially in scenes with matte paintings and such. Guess then there´s little that can be done about it.

It's very noticeable in the "A long time ago..." intro as well. When I added my "MeBeJedi" ending to my MPEG, it stood eerily still compared to everything else.
