The released blu ray set sales records so no i don't think the oot means anything to the average joe who thinks they already bought the movies that were made in the seventies and eighties.

Disney and Fox have to work out the video and distribution rights.

So no i don't think this has any chance of happening.

Anyway even if new sets were releases it would simply be the same 2011 blu ray with the Disney  logo on it.

And getting people to "double dip" as opposed to just pick up any previous slack in sales is exactly what they will want to do. There is a large fanbase who is very much aware of the special edition changes and know that they can't currently get it. There are more casual fans who might not be losing sleep over it, but will understand exactly what is meant by "unaltered trilogy" to add to their collection. And there are currently less informed people who may still buy it if it's pitched clearly and correctly for what it is.

I think the "not if, but when" attitude is the correct one. If there is anything stopping Disney from proceeding, it is probably contractual issues with Fox, or actual technical difficulties with some of the negatives (I don't know, can they definitely account for 100% of the theatrical footage in great condition?). I don't think marketing, lack of interest, or sales potential factor in as reasons not to go ahead. They'll have not just the nice sales spike leading up to Episode VII, but the title permanently in the archive. I would imagine the OOT coming out first, alone. Followed by some sort of platinum set right before the next film launches, including the OOT, SE, and PT. If they can pull it off.
