What do you HATE about the EU? — Page 17

Sexual orientation might not even be a big deal in the SW universe. Are there even any sexual scenes in any of the books?

Some people have accused Ziro the Hutt of being a flaming gay stereotype, although there is no onscreen evidence of it.

In the Marvel comic, former Senator Simon Greyshade and his shiny pal Master Com might have been the first robosexuals though. At least the parody comic Jaxxon's 11 ran with the idea. ;)

Hutts are supposed to be both male and female, so they were probably just working with that aspect of the species. I haven't seen the Clone Wars movie though, so I don't really know how he was portrayed.

As to Ziro, he was dating Sy Snootles (yes, seriously) for a while.

More universe shrinkage and stupidity. That's like me dating an intelligent snake or something.

The dialog in Ziro's final appearance implied more than that. ;)

In any case, Science Fiction and Fantasy genres are chock full of odd couples.

My money is on J.J. putting Shatner in somewhere just to blow people's minds. ;)

I wouldn't mind that.

JEDIT: granted, I don't really care about any of the new stuff. I don't think I'll go see the new movies, even if the reviews amount to "OMG the greatest thing since sliced bread, gotta see em!!"

I hate how Thrawn always gets the credit for starting the EU. The EU started with the ANH novelization.

That this is now not the original Jabba from the Marvel adaptation of the film. This is now Mosep Binneed, a stand in for Jabba who uses his name.

Ehhh, that should really go to the first original work of fiction based on the property. So either the Marvel comics or Splinter of the Mind's Eye.

The 90's was a real long time ago to some people I guess. ;)

The first issue of the Marvel series to tell an original story was put on sale October 11, 1977, months before SOTME, so the Marvel comics can be credited for starting the EU.

But the ANH novelization was the first material to provide information that's not in the movies themselves.

That's true, but I think a work has be wholly original to be considered part of the Expanded Universe, not just an adaptation with more background information. I don't know why that is, but that is the way the marketers decided to do things.

I hate that people defend the EU with Lucas's approval of it. Are people forgetting what else Lucas has approved, created, and suppressed?

I think you just hate everything, darklordoftech.

The Rebel Assault games being canon. They obviously weren't meant to be canon.

It isn't canon now. Haven't you been paying attention? The old EU has discarded.

I may be going a little meta here, but what I really hate about the EU is that since the announcement that only the PT, TCW, Rebels, the OT, and the ST count

There has never been such an announcement. I would challenge you to provide a source for that.
