Well, mine was running perfectly until I put in the additional RAM and then it just died completely - it doesn't even beep. I tried every trick in the book but it's just dead. I really hope it's just the motherboard. I'm hoping I will be able to get a new board through warranty but these things can take weeks.
I ordered a thingy to connect internal HDDs through USB, which should arrive today, so that I can try out the HDDs on my laptop and find out if all the data is intact, which is the most important thing.
Ah, a hard drive enclosure. I've had to use them before. Probably would be wise to just purchase an external drive to keep everything on, even if it's just for backing things up that you have on your internal drive once a week. Drives are so cheap these days.
Better yet, I'm not sure what your main drive is, but if you don't have an SSD in there, I would *highly* recommend it...especially for rendering and working with video. Then you could use whatever regular platter drive(s) you currently have for backups in your new enclosure.
