Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released) — Page 477

Maybe I misunderstand how BD authoring works, but couldn't you create 21 playlists, each with the main video and a single audio track and just select the desired playlist (ie audio track) from a list of 21 links to the individual playlists?

I'm assuming that subtitles can be selected from a separate menu at the beginning without having to have a huge matrix of audio/subtitle combinations.

I too have noticed that some players handle media files differently from official Bluray or DVD structure, so the quality of mkv can not be guaranteed.  This need not be a deterrent since mkv can be converted into simple Bluray structure and burnt to a disc to appear like a real Bluray disc.  Of course there is still the issue of having to select audio/subtitles through the player instead of a proper menu, but my suggestion still stands of including a static introduction presenting the menu of subtitle and audio options to facilitate selecting the number of the desired value through the player and then going forward or back a chapter to restart at the beginning of the movie proper.

Does anyone know where I can find Harmy's The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi?

Try the 'spleen, if you've been invited.

Ol’ George has the GOUT, I see.

Oh, I forgot to thank everyone, who sent additional donations! I got enough, so that I should be able to buy the additional RAM when I get my salary this month.

All those who donated will be added to the credits of all my following projects of course.

And if not, I got them quite easily off the pirate bay. There are two copies of each up there.

Well I just wanted to say I was watching these with a friend we first saw the special edition of The Wizard Of Oz on BD than we saw your despecialized edition of Star Wars harmy and I must say playing those two classic movies back to back never looked so good. Thank you harmy and good luck on ESB and ROTJ as well.

What’s worse George Lucas changing the OT or selling the rights to Disney

First off, I am a huge fan of this project. Alas, I have been trying to get behind the velvet rope of The Spleen forum, but to no avail. When I could not get in, I tried teh Paradox and JDownloader. Unfortunately, after 4 attempts, my checksum never matches up. Also, Jdownloader is waaaaay bloated with spamware. I am so excited to watch, but I cannot seem to get in.

If an invite the Spleen is around, I would be extremely grateful. Thank you for the consideration.

My great appreciation goes to Harmy, Ady, Harry Hen and all the contributors who gave the real Star Wars trilogy back to the fans.  That's an interesting article, but even if they did restore the films they probably wouldn't look a tenth as good as Harmy's... especially by the time he's done with imminent versions.  They just go from great to greater.  Thanks to everybody who is making this possible.  The fans never dared hope for such beautiful restorations, yet here they are alive and well.  Thank you gentlemen.  Thanks for everything.

Ha-ha, this was such a predictable post.

Really not sure what you mean. I have tried a number of different routes, all to no avail. If I was not genuine in my interest for the project and the film, I would not have gone through the effort to ask here. No need to be elitist. This is supposed to be a fan project, and I am a fan who has had difficulty accessing this project.

Please do tell more-- all the gory details!
Trying to grab the MKV or AVCHD?
Same checksum all 4 attempts, or different ones?
Did you see any error while unrar'ing?
Could it be possible you're trying to match the MKV's checksum against the AVCHD, or vice-versa?

Now I've begun to worry whether my recent AVCHD upload to a.b.starwars had the right sum...

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Well, I never released any checksums for the AVCHD, so if you've got the AVCHD and you're trying to compare its checksum with one found anywhere in this thread or on tehparadox, then you're sure as hell not gonna get the results you're looking for.

I'm sure they could, I'm not sure they will. But that's what Mike Verta's project is for - use the best available elements to restore the movie to perfect condition and then lock it up in a vault for foreseeable future ;-)

I meant until they get distribution rights dispute settled. :) Which may never happen, but I'd bet money that Disney will at least try to release originals after episode VII comes out. Even if the new movie will suck, all of us can be easily bribed with restored OT.

Mike Verta doesn't have access to original negatives (right?), and I'm kinda worried that they may not even exist in ten years or so.

I don't mean to offend someone who actually does work here, but this one was absolutely predictable and unhelpful as well.

I don't see why it should be surprising that the very same people on a forum to discuss fanedits want to watch said fanedits. I do find it surprising that such a private site is a main distribution mechanism. But I suppose there are a lot of hit-and-runners when it comes to things like this, and any private site would be abused by large swarms of "an-edit fans, while public sites obviously leave uploaders as more accessible targets.

I think VII's release is too early, but time will tell. To get them out then Disney would have to think it can earn more selling then new editions than it'd have to pay to get the rights back early. My bet would be on something happening in 2020, either Fox selling Star Wars's rights for three boatloads to Disney or the two companies working out some split for the trilogy.

And of course there's the question of whether people will sill be buying movies at all in 2020. I don't truly expect everything to go streaming/subscription, but I think the big goldmine for home video sales peaked about when the first set of DVDs came out.

The other test will be whether whatever gets released passes fan muster. You can go ahead start writing the "here's what the new OT versions get wrong" articles now. There will be too much DNR or the colors will be wrong or the sound mix will be off or something. Disney (or Fox or whoever) would be smart to involve the fan community in the process somehow.

It's not about hit-and-runners and p2p politics.

It's about keeping OT.com alive and reducing the likelihood of receiving a C&D letter. Believe it or not, a few of our members have received such a letter in the past.

Well, it's already been stated above that they can be found on piratebay as well as someone offering usenet access to get them so - I don't see where the problem lies.

I wasn't trying to argue for or against any particular side with my post. I was just trying to remove concern about hit-and-runners from the discussion while reminding everyone why many members here choose to use a private BitTorrent tracker as their primary distribution mechanism.
