The Keep - Satellite Rip (Released) — Page 4

yeah, looks just like the video master, which has some decent detail, but very dated and the colors are all wrong. Probably the best thing about the NF rip is the color, which strongly matches the very saturated theatrical look (the 35mm print I saw had pinkish skin tones for example). Also, I rented The Keep via Google Play/YouTube and it's the newer master, but it's very compressed.

Ah well, the search or wait for a release of a superior master continues.

Does anyone have a 4 gb version of the Netflix or Sky sat broadcast?   The rip that's out is roughly around 1 gb in size and looks to be VHS quality.

This is a second listing of the Keep on Amazon, this one is for rental and purchase as opposed to the other listing on Amazon which is streaming for free on prime (the 4:3 video master, which recently popped up on Netflix as well, as opposed to the widescreen master that was previously there)

Anyone think this is worth a rental or purchase for capping, etc.

Also the Keep documentary facebook page has been consistently updated with some great stuff, definitely a very exciting project:

In addition here's a better quality version of the alternate ending that popped up on youtube:

and some behind the scenes footage and an interview with Mann as well:

Still trying to look for a version of the film superior to the Netflix rip

I'll take a look at It, I've been capping a lot of videos from Amazon recently.

Cool.  I actually have the Epix HD channel that it's being broadcast on tomorrow.  Time to set the old dvr.  Thanks for the heads up.  I have no way to capture it but I will report back about the aspect ratio.

And if it looks HD or not please :)

No problem guys... I'll do a detailed review of the Epix HD broadcast and report all the technical aspects of the presentation.

Well guys, sorry to report the film was actually broadcast in 4:3 and it looked like hell on wheels.  It clocked in at around 100 minutes with bumpers so it's basically just the VHS version.  I know, unbelievable right.  I was like WTF!?  Epix has been showing Dragonslayer (1981) in beautiful widescreen HD for some time now so I had high hopes for The Keep.  It was not to be.  The sound was actually not that bad but the image didn't look high def at all.  In fact, when I switched over to the standard definition feed which broadcasts the same content it actually looked and sounded better than the HD version.  There was really nothing HD about the HD broadcast at all.  Go figure.  So that was pretty much a train wreck.

Bummer about epix, from the old netflix version and other streaming versions that popped up (google play, etc) a halfway decent 2.35:1 version is ready for primetime. I'd love to know the reason why the 4:3 version is shown again and again.

I posted here a while ago about The making of The Keep.

Well I know it's not about the keep film rips or video as such but If you like this film then the documentary now appears to be entering it's final stages with the promotional website launching on 1st August.

I am really looking forward to this, as there really is very little info on this mysterious yet visually striking film.

So that's a quick heads up to any fan's of the Keep.

Was it a different version? I'm curious because Film4 often show the restored/director's cut of films
