Hooray for renewal and spin off! I wonder how they're going to use "Agent Carter". I'm imagining it more of just a secret agent show, because being a prequel they can't have men of iron or alien artifacts. "Agents of SHIELD" shows us what needs to happen in a post-alien-invasion world and how they need to try to contain those with powers/technology. The only weird things "Agent Carter" will have seen is two super soldiers who both went down in a plane years before.
If they set in in the cold war maybe the first season will have then racing to beat the Russians to all the Hydra tech, after that I am not sure.  Still there was a lot of tension in that era that they could exploit for story lines.  It will be interesting to see what they do with it.
I like that. I keep imagining it'll be Carter worried about Hydra in SHIELD, but if she had suspicions like that back then, she would NOT still be alive in 2014.

Yeah i hope they don't go that route.  Still as I said I think they have done a good job so far. If the only things I can complain about are one movie and a couple of scenes in a Tv show I think they have a pretty good track record,so i have faith it will turn out good.

I hope they stay away from the time travel component.  It would seem to defeat the purpose of the show as a bridge.  They could do more Howard Stark stuff right through to his eventual murder via Zola.  I'd also like to see maybe some stories following The Howling Commandos as well.

Who knows what we'll get ..... I do have faith as well.

Hah, so on a lark I decided to check out The Ultimate Spider-Man on Netflix. It started off...okay. They utilize the weird fourth wall shattering pause time to talk to the audience shtick that Zach Morris pioneered at Bayside High.

It's set a year into Spidey's career when he's approached by Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. for additional training and gear. Turns out Nick is starting a new initiative to start training the Next Avengers and he wants Spidey to help lead this new team he's assembled. The team consisting of Iron Fist, White Tiger, Luke Cage and Nova.

I thought it was a pretty neat concept and made me wish Marvel had Spidey's rights back even more. And then something happened that took me completely by surprise...

AGENT COULSON SHOWED UP! He advises against Spidey's recruitment, citing the reports from the Daily Bugle. Later on, Parker is surprised to find that his new team has been transferred to his high school and Coulson is now his new principle!

It felt like Marvel's attempt to slide Spidey into their new universe, at least in the animated portion of it. Oh yeah and the Fantastic Four were shown to exist in this universe as well.

Here's this week's poster:

Season finale starts here in half an hour, definitely looking forward to it.

I love the excitement but I guess I'll have to learn to come here after I get a chance to watch the episode so I don't hit the spoiler section first.

:(

Yeah, I've been learning not to hit the threads around here until after I've seen the ep.

Speaking of which, wow. That was the perfect way to end the season.

I got up early this morning to watch the finale before I went to work.

My dogs were alarmed by all of the cheering I did. I wish the SUPER SPECIAL GUEST STARRING credit didn't always ruin things, or I would have cheered loud enough to wake the neighbors.

I like that it wrapped up enough of the storylines that if it hadn't have been renewed, it was satisfactory to make a whole story, but left enough loose ends that we have a purpose for Season 2. If it hadn't been renewed, they could have wrapped everything up in a tie-in comic or we could just assume that they're still out there fighting the good fight (like "Stargate Universe", *sniff*).

"Phil Coulson, Director of SHIELD", I'm sure shirts with that on them are on their way to print shops. It would need to have construction equipment piling blocks to fix the logo that's broken in the poster Tobar posted.... I hope this happens.

Boy am I glad I don't pay attention to the opening credits. =P

I couldn't help it! I was sitting really close to the TV, so it was right in my eyeline.

Okay, they seem to be dropping hints that Fitz will not be in season two,I hope that isn't true and that they let the character recover because he was my favorite.  It can be as long and painful as the writers want as long as they have him in the show and just don't drop him.  If he is in season two i hope that don't pull this thing of having him tell Simmons how he feels and then have him not remember it due to brain damage.  That always bugs me when they do that one Tv. What is the point of showing an event if you are going to use brain damage or time travel to have everyone act like it didn't happen. Revelations like that should have some impact on the characters and their stories,if the writers don't want to play them out that is fine but then they shouldn't write them into the show in the first place.

Any way I just wanted to say that is my biggest worry about season two, that my favorite character will not be in it.  I can't believe I have to wait until the fall to see what is going to happen.

Spoilers over.

A little late for the "spoiler" alert thingy.

Anyways, I finally decided to sit down and watch the last 5 episodes.  Turn, Turn, Turn was where I left off.  I am hoping they try and get back to the original premise of little to no tie-ins unless absolutely necessary.  With Shield having a new start this could be a great way to make things more exciting and really show off it's own muscle.

I honestly think this thread will be fine. I'd hate to split our discussions.

Well I am just putting it out there as an option since there doesn't seem to be any easy way to hide spoilers in this thread.

It's hard I know.

People want to talk about stuff they really like even though not everyone is in the same mode but it can be difficult to remember that when one is so excited.

I usually wait a week or two with movies and I try to do the same with episodes, just gives others a chance to be up to speed.

Yeah that's a pretty good rule of thumb. There is one really awesome moment that I can't wait to talk about.

I wonder if the last moment of the season has something to do with Guardians of the Galaxy.

I hadn't considered that. Good thought.

Perhaps I'm not as attached to the comics as the hardcore fans so I just see the remote control aspect as a logical extension of the technology of the suit coupled with the modern world as distinct from the futurism of the early 1960's.

The characters are played with such gusto that the CGI, which is largely invisible to me if a bit wonky in places, only becomes a major issue during the ubiquitous boss fight scenes. These appear in practically every superhero film deflating all character development and turning the films into the rarely fun experience of watching someone else complete a computer game.Thor 2 had a riverside romantic scene in a futuristic decorative city with Nat Portman, a functioning male actor and a script that didn't suck (see it can be done).

Remote controlled armour is hardly a new thing for Iron Man.

Keep Circulating the Tapes.

The dumb bit of Iron Man 3 was blowing up all those useful suits as a sign of commitment to Pepper.

A) How does that work? Domestic partners don't want you to blow up expensive, useful stuff generally speaking. Helping her build her own suit to manage her un-fixable superpowers (why would you want to be cured of being able to bend super tankers with your bare hands?) would make more sense.

B)If removing the shrapnel was easy enough to make a snap decision about, why didn't he make a snap decision about it earlier...like when the reactor keeping it in place was killing him?

C)We know he will just spend the rest of his marriage replacing them and probably pissing off Pepper in the process.

Stayed with MAOS but have attempted to avoid spoilers here.

It does get better, nice to see Deathlok turn up (I loved those comics as a kid). It still feels like Torchwood done better and not quite like the comics I remembered. I wish the Marvel and Doctor Who universe would merge so SHIELD and UNIT could team up against some sort of otherworldly menace.
