After all it was still Lucas who was creative director behind ESB and ROTJ...I think in its core ROTJ would be the same whether Lucas stayed at home during principal photography or ran around the sets. He may let Kershner freely direct actors in ESB, but he didn't let him do any major changes to what he cooked up in the pre-production. So as you said, there would probably be clashes if Kershner tried to change anything for ROTJ which would probably have negative effect on the film. Those who think Ewoks would not be in the film are just naive.


Kersh did say, though, that he would never have shown Vader's/Anakin's face in ROTJ. I think that would have been a mistake.
