THIS DAY IN STAR WARS HISTORY
05.04.79
THE FAN-COINED "MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU" SLOGAN GETS ITS FIRST MAJOR BOOST OF EXPOSURE WHEN THE LONDON EVENING NEWS USES IT IN A HALF-PAGE CONGRATULATORY NOTE TO MARGARET THATCHER, WHO HAD JUST WON TO BECOME BRITAIN'S FIRST WOMAN PRIME MINISTERNINETEEN SEVENTY NINE?! I don't know if that makes me feel better about it, or worse.

Yep, so it seems 79 was the first time the pun was made, but 2011 was the first time it became Star Wars day.
I knew it was a recent phenomena so that it started in 2011 isn't surprising, but at the same time you have to wonder why it took 32 years to catch on, right?
Anyway, May 25th is still Star Wars day in my heart. It was so before 2011, and it will continue to be so (even if my friends force me to watch Star Wars on the fourth).
