That's the correct spirit man :-)

A 35mm LPP print of ROTJ has come up for sale, checking out the quality now.
A few prints have come to light lately, I'm going to need to invest in more HDDs.
Oh, and if anyone in Australia wants to see Stormtroopers feeding giant crocodiles, today is your lucky day.

Just made my day!
Great!
May the the 4th be with you everyone
The print looks pretty good, going to try and secure it.
If anyone wants to donate hard drives, or put something towards Hard Drives, please feel free to do so!
I am going to need another 16 x 4TB drives for the prints, which at current newegg pricing is around USD$2500. That would finally mean enough drives to store the entire trilogy @ 4K.

What codec are you using? Tiff sequence?
.EXR files.

Does that include a backup copy? Hard drives can't be trustworthy after 2-3 years unfortunately.
Fanrestore - Fan Restoration Forum: https://fanrestore.com
No it doesn't unfortunately, but it includes parity drives in a RAID configuration.
I'd love to be able to afford a complete backup, but all 3 films, and multiple prints of ANH & ROTJ means an awful lot of drives.
Currently, best-case at the native resolution of the scanner, stored in OpenEXR, it is around 17TB per film (including a parity drive).
So around 4 or 5 x 4TB drives per print.
Unfortunately 4TB drives don't hold 4TB of data, you are left with less than 11TB from 3 x 4TB HDDs.
Then you need drives to be able to work on the cleanup, and store the finished results.
It turns out your need exactly one shitload(TM) of hard drives.

Do you know if the format is compressible? Might be able to shave quite a bit off
That is (losslessly) compressed :) Uncompressed it comes in at around 22TB per movie, (without any parity drives) , compared to around 12-13TB compressed (again, without any parity drives).

Ah I thought it was an uncompressed format (the wiki is a bit vague... or I didn't read throughly!).
Time to find rich friends? If you found one who had access to 5TB tape drives... ; D
OpenEXR has various compression options, ZIP, PIZ, RLE, ZIPS, all lossless and then B44, B44A and PXR24 if you need lossy methods for higher compression.
If anyone would like a good technical overview of the .EXR format, this is probably your best starting point.

Hope all is well!
I am about to enter the cleanup phase for Star Wars, does anyone have a scene they would like to see done, I have to start somewhere, so I thought I may as well throw it out to you all to get a favourite scene done first.

Awesome news poita!!!
I would love to see the scene where Luke and Owen are buying the droids or the binaury sunset would also be awesome!
Thanks ;)
“English, motherf***er! Do you speak it!?”

The infamous speeder shot. :-D
A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.
I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

The takeoff from Yavin and then the X-Wing fleet passing by the red planet.

The color timing was indeed heavily changed.
“English, motherf***er! Do you speak it!?”
The sunset was altered heavily and irreparably in terms of color but also the suns were recomposited and clouds were added. The scene where Owen buys the droids is also pretty messed up by the Lowry restoration, so it would be interesting to see that too.
Sunset!

Wow, not the scene I was expecting :)
