Was there a V1 Blu-ray at one point?

There was, but people had just begun testing it when I jumped in on the project and started from scratch with a new script. I guess DJ chose to call this V2 so it wouldn't confuse those who had already gotten test discs from him.

Ah, I see. How close is it to completion then?

Ol’ George has the GOUT, I see.

I'm really looking forward to the SE Blu-Rays.

One of my biggest gripes about the 2004 DVD / CS Blu-Ray were the nearly completely desaturated / sometimes overly-saturated explosions during the Battle of Yavin.

In the 1997 version the explosions had that wonderful golden color (especially during the trench run).

Or what about all those blue highlights that started popping up with the 2004 transfer during that scene. Most prominently the black table edges of the Rebel's tactical table turning blue.

Not to mention, the explosion of the Death Star has never looked more magical than it did in ANH's SE. The recoloring of the "light dot" debris from white to blue was a great idea to set it apart from the star field. It's an awe-inspiring visual. Jump forward to 2004 and the explosion fades into a lifeless desaturation. :(

Exactly, but this really is not a V2, this is it! this just blows away the previous BD so in my mind that first BD does not even exist lol.

To all of you that donated blanks long, long time ago, stay tuned, we are in the final testing stretch and it looks like we may be able to release in time for "Star Wars" Day!!!!!!!

I have a Hell of a lot to do to make this happen.

Dark jedi,

I would like to make a contribution to the forum and your efforts on preservation. Please disregarded the last pm as I was confused on the proper procedure to apply donation. Please pm me with instructions to supply you with blank disc either blu ray or dvd to help the forum out.

Thank you for your patients and understanding,

I'm pretty stoked now. I'm gonna marathon these babies as soon as they arrive.

Guess I'll need a new Blu-Ray player. PS4 perhaps?

My son has a PS4. As a gaming console its a step up from the PS3. But as a Blu-Ray player, it is a disappointment. It will play Blu-Rays just fine but navigation is minimal. It just feels like they only cared about making the PS4 a gaming platform and the Blu-Ray movie/ Home Entertainment portion was secondary.

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

So, are you saying that as a BD and media player, it's worse than PS3?

So how does one go about getting the PW for the archive? I got it all ready to unpack just need to know the magic words lol.

Thanks in advance for all of your hard work on this. I look forward to popping this in and checking it out!

Just my opinion, but yes, it is worse. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Sony has sold a crap load of PS4s so maybe Sony wasn't too far off in their thinking about what the PS4 should be. A gaming console or an entertainment system?...they chose to make it a gaming console.

Is Star Wars from the original trilogy going to be release at the same time as the SE?

Could someone also tell me how to go about getting the password for the usenet post? Thank you and I really look forward to seeing all the hard work that was put into it. It is much appreciated!

What usenet post is this again ?

A suspicious (using the word humorously) looking 26gb collection that appeared on a.b.starwars a few days ago.

The ps4 also couldn't play 3D blu-rays, at least not with the initial firmware. I don't get what was so complicated about including a feature on brand-new, 2013 hardware that the ps3 was able to implement in 2010 via firmware using 2006 hardware.

Anyway, looking forward to this release. A quality preservation of the '97 version is something the completionist side of me has wanted ever since reading Bill Hunt's mention of the Euro broadcast preservation in his review of the 2011 official blu-ray.
