It may not work well as the conclusion to the storyline of TWOK & TSFS -- and the whole "sound travelling through space" thing may really bug me -- but I just can't find it in me to dislike this movie.

Ok, how about this: the Gay Probe isn't sending sound through space because sound wouldn't affect all ship systems like it does. It's an energy pulse that travels through space that can disable ships, but once it hit's earth's oceans is creates vibrations to make a sound like certain mammals.

Are you saying that isn't what was happening in the movie? Because if you are you just blew my mind because I have always just assumed the energy pulse thing was what was going on. I never thought it was sound traveling through space.

I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be what's going on, represented by the audience hearing sound.

Well same here. I first saw the movie when I was seven and even at that age I didn't see how sound could travel through space so I didn't think it was.
