The composite signal actually looks better than the svideo because it doesn't introduce nearly as much dot crawl. This most likely has something to do with the older comb filter in the LD player (circa 1994).

How am I resizing? In AVIsynth:

lanczosresize(720,360)
addborders(0,60,0,60)
