DC and Marvel are both run by continuity-obsessed fanboys who haven't been kids in decades, thus their audience is largely made up of continuity-obsessed fanboys who haven't been kids in decades.

Basically, they only write stories for themselves -- stories which are almost always Z-grade ripoffs of Frank Miller and Alan Moore stories -- and are incapable of seeing past their own egos to understand that they're shooting themselves and the companies they work for in the foot.

Or they could hire some of the writers who worked on Batman the Animated series or Spectacular Spiderman,they seemed to understand how to tell good comic book stories without going to far. Anything would be better then this.

I know that Paul Dini worked as a writer on Detective Comics. I haven't read any of his storylines, though, so I can't say how good they are.
