Star Trek Into Darkness Bonus disc (Released) — Page 11

Update on my standard definition Star Trek Into Darkness Special Edition:

STID Special Edition Version 1.5 is here! I've taken the suggestions people had from my first fan preservation of the bonus material, and I've reauthorized the DVDs in an improved format. It's now a 3-disc edition (called “1.5” because Disc 3 HASN'T been changed and is still the same content as the original Disc 2). However, the new version features the theatrical version of the movie on Disc 1 (complete with multiple language tracks and subtitles), the *newly recovered* Deleted/Extended scenes and iTunes Enhanced Commentary version of the movie on Disc 2, and all the remaining bonus material (behind the scenes featurettes from the Blu-Ray, trailers, internet parodies, etc.) on Disc 3.

I've tested the DVDs on a 28” inch TV, and the quality is MUCH better than the previous release, which had both versions of the movie squeezed unto a 4.35GB disc. However, it's still STANDARD DEFINITION ONLY, so if anyone wants to see this stuff on a regular DVD, feel free to PM about it.

(PLEASE NOTE: I've gotten several PMs asking for these featurettes in High Def, or asking for the movie with unusual foreign language subtitles like Russian, Slovak, etc. – I DON'T HAVE ANY OF THAT CONTENT. 95% of my source material was standard def and the DVD contents are from the standard region 1 North American release, so the subtitles are in English, French, and Spanish, and they're ONLY available on Disc 1. I do NOT have the capability to create switchable subtitles on my DVD authoring software!)

To those who traded with me for the initial release, I will be happy to offer you an “upgrade” to Version 1.5 for free. For others, PM me and I'm sure we can work something out, whether or not you have something to trade. Unfortunately I will be very busy and out of town for the next week or so, but I should have more free time after March 20.

Here is a complete list of the contents you will find on the three discs:

Wow! PM sent!

It’s really sad when the “creative minds” behind something we hold dear are also guilty of its destruction.

So, did anyone get his hands on the Best Buy Bonus Disc yet? Someone who is willing to upload either the entire disc or the M2TS files of those bonus features?

Time is the fire in which we burn

Hello everyone,

I've now updated the cover art for my 3 disc standard definition DVD box set of Star Trek Into Darkness. Here are some thumbnails from the artwork. Please PM me if you'd like a link to download these items.

I know some people are not keen on doing trades, but not to worry, you don't need to trade anything to download the cover art. ;-)

Thanks again for your interest!

If anyone is interested to add it in the HD Bonus Edition, I just managed to find a 2GB 1080p encode of the original IMAX Prologue. PM me for a link...

I'm looking for a 720p or 1080p version of the extras on the Target bonus disk. Does anyone happen to have those?

Author

Well I did my part by putting all the special features on 3 DVDs.  Too bad the 50GB blu-ray disc seems to have been forgotten.

Well now, if that don't beat all.  The compendium will certainly have a place on my shelf if Paramount can get the previous purchasers coupon right.

Yay!!!

The best news for me is that they're even thinkiing about releasing the SEs of the original movies

That would be a welcome purchase for my collection but is dependent on whether they get it right when it comes to the video transfer, audio options, and bonus features.

Did you read the digital bits article that was linked?

"Note that Paramount is working to set up a rebate offer for those who purchased the original Star Trek Into Darkness Blu-ray, the details of which will follow soon."

Since we're FINALLY getting a proper Blu-Ray release of Into Darkness (I didn't buy the various "retail exclusive" versions already out there and I'm glad I didn't), it looks like we won't need a fan made "special edition" on Blu-Ray.

Still, I'm going to use the new featurettes to release a third (and hopefully final!) definitive 3-disc DVD version of the film.  I probably won't have it read until October or so, but I've decided on a final list of featurettes based on what we're getting on Blu-Ray:

Hi, what else am I missing that's really good and/or a must-have

In case anyone in NA is interested, I purchased the 3D Target-version of ST: ID and as previously mentioned it includes the iTunes HD version (coupon may now be expired, dunno) with IMAX ratio and enhanced commentary and 2 additional featurettes.

Thank you and Cheers!

A question - what is not on the Compendium ?

For those who haven't purchased previous releases, the Compendium may be great, however, for others (myself included), the Compendium may seem like a double-dip. Also, there is the VAM controversy mentioned here.

Trekcore detailed a few items that did not appear there:

There are also a few other bits still left out for unknown reasons, including:

Two deleted scenes from the XBOX Video release:

   "Pike's Office (Original Ending)"

   "Kronos Fight Before Khan Arrives"

The "MTV First" roundtable interview series, totaling approximately 30 minutes

Several minor behind-the-scenes clips and VFX pre-vis videos released via XBOX Video

The six different Port of San Francisco music cues

The Into Darkness 'B-Roll' video

The nine-minute IMAX preview cut of the film's introduction, released with the first Hobbit film

Any leftovers collection should basically be the two deleted scenes, the MTV First series, any of the BTS XBOX Live videos, the music cues and the b-roll. The IMAX preview material would be covered by the ratio-shifting full feature.
