Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released) — Page 471

I lent my DE copies to one of my friends.  He and his wife have both never seen star wars before.  It was interesting to hear them talk about it.  They know Luke's father is some weird twist but don't know who.  There are now 2 new star wars fans who have only seen your work and not the special editions.

Anyway meanwhile I am DE-less so I watched the blu-ray for the first time since I got it. I couldn't take the crushed blacks and high contrasts for too long and had to stop watching it.  Luckily I still have a working VHS so watched my pan and scan hbo recording from '85ish.

Thanks again for all your hard work.

Thanks for the great stories, guys! I never tire of hearing that stuff :-)

BTW, a new workprint of the first hour of ESB v2.0 is out now. More info here.

Well all I can say is thank you for your continued hard work.  You have saved my favorite film trilogy.  What you have done just blows my mind.  I had given up all hope of ever seeing these films the way i remembered then in any sort of decent quality.

Thanks you so much.

Thanks for your great work Harmy, I'm glad you have a better system now.

How are things coming along, Harmy?

Well, the new computer is finally up and running with everything in place.

I've been working on ESB lately. I'm still waiting to get the narration for the documentaries, as I need it to time the shots to it.

That would be my fault! Sorry about that Harmy! I've been working on my master's thesis along with my full-time job. But I'll get that to you by Wednesday.

What’s the internal temperature of a TaunTaun? Luke warm.

Oh, no problem, man - I totally understand real-life takes precedence. That's why I didn't even write to you or anything

Harmy sir, could your new computer spit out an AVCHD version of v2.5, while we wait for the scripts to be finished? ;)

That'd be swell! :D

Why make so many different versions? That's too much confusion for uninitiated. You can make AVCHD by yourself. :)

That's not a bad idea. I never clamored for this since the changes were so minor over 2.1, but since the new system can handle this much more easily, it would be nice to have the current version on AVCHD.

One of these days I'll get around to buying a Blu-ray burner.

Not from Harmy's original source, he'd have to transcode the MKV, which is an unnecessary step that potentially impacts quality.

How so? The video stream from the MKV is MPEG4/AVC/h264. He only needs tsmuxer.

Or do you have DVD9 version in mind?

Yes, I'm talking about the AVCHD DVD9 version, and I'm pretty sure that's what Farid was referring to.

I just finished making my own Blu ray versions using DVD architect and it is great.  I used an old copy of From Star Wars to Jedi as an extra and I found all the trailers for the movies and a bunch of old Tv adds.  I never thought I would be able to own a Blu ray boxset of the theatrical cuts of these films.

Oh and I don't care what anyone says I liked the Ewoks and I loved the original rock song that plays in Jaba's palace,so thank for retaining that and the original song at the end of the movie.

This is great!:)

My copy of Harmy's Star Wars Despecialized Edition is defective, because these scenes are missing from my copy. Damn it.

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

Oops sorry.

I forgot this thread was for the first movie only and started talking about the whole series.  I tend to refer to the whole series as star wars and not think of it as three separate movies because I tend to watch all three of them in one sitting when i watch them.  I do the same thing with Lord of the Rings. Sorry.

I stand by my love of the Ewoks.  I don't care what people say about me,I like them.

I like Ewoks too, with some fava beans and a nice chianti. :)

It’s really sad when the “creative minds” behind something we hold dear are also guilty of its destruction.

That's fine if you want to get fancy and mess with the natural flavor.

Oh, I just remembered, I encoded an AVCHD version of v2.5 a few days ago and then I totally forgot about it. What I need for it is for someone to provide me with the soundtracks. What I need are the tracks, which are in the v2.1 AVCHD, at the same bitrate they are there, but encoded from the lossless tracks that are in v2.5 mkv, because IIRC they are newer and better versions. I could try doing this myself but I'd fel much safer if someone who actually knows what they are doing did it for me.

You made an encode and forgot about it, man, this new computer is noticeably making things easier for you already.

Well, I let it run over-night and then in the morning I had to go to work, so I just turned the computer off and then I forgot about it. But yeah, the fact that the encode was finished over-night is pretty awesome :-)

Agreed!

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!
