The ROTS novelization. The characters are much smarter in it than they are in the movie.

Put down your flamethrowers and let me clarify:

Mara Jade is uninteresting to me, and uninteresting as Luke's romantic interest. Callista makes a far better fit in my opinion

Callista?? Callista Flockhart????

You've got the wrong Callista in mind, buddy-boy.

I'd just like to say, BTW, that I think Callista is an awesome name; back when I wanted kids, I'd planned on naming my first-born daughter after the character.

The novelizations. The ROTJ novelization understands the Empire far better than the Thrawn books.

The concept of the Force that could be present in a cloned Jedi sounds ridiculous as if the soul of a human being could be reproduced in a cloned unit. Besides, the very word combination "Dark Jedi" is similar to "round square": how is that a Jedi could be "Dark". He's a Sith in this case.

Joruuuus Cboath was not a Sith.

  • A) the term didn't mean anything then, and
  • B) even in the context of the 8,000 different Sith organizations introduced since TPM, he wasn't a part of any of them.

Mavericks is of the opinion that "Sith" automatically equals "darksider", nuances in beliefs, traditions, philosophies, etc. be damned.

Of course, I completely disagree with him/her.

TCW makes it clear that Maul's tattoos are NOT Sith tattoos. I love how this proves Legacy wrong.

Unlike many (most?) others, I don't hate The Crystal Star -- I actually found it a fun read the one time I read it.

I admit, though, that my perception is coloured by my love for parallel universe stories. Perhaps if there were more and better Star Wars stories which dealt with parallel universes and divergent timelines, I'd be less forgiving of the book's flaws. As it is, though, I have to accept what little's been given to me.

I'm still clinging to my initial position from when I saw TPM that those weren't tattoos, just his species's markings.

Getting elaborate tattoos seems kind of uncool.

  • PALPY: What did you do this weekend Maul?
  • MAUL: Spent 23 hours in a tattoo parlor my lord. Only three weeks to go and these dope sleeves will be done. Then we shall have our revenge.

It could be worse, he could have a bone tied between his ears.

Knight Errant. A Jedi vs. Sith story that actually makes sense! I would much rather a Kerra Holt movie than a Revan movie.

Evil Gungans are always funny.

Please tell me that's not a bone in his nose.

OK, just when I thought Jar Jar as Stepin Fetchit couldn't get any worse...

(Oddly enough, in the first draft script of TPM, Jar Jar spoke normal English. On the other hand the humans of Naboo were super racist, referring to Jar Jar's "bad smell" and confining him to the cargo hold of the Queen's starship. The idea was that they would have to overcome their racism by the end of the film after relying on the heroism of the Gungans to defend their city.

When one realizes that Lucas changed the Gungan motif from recalling the unjust persecution of African-Americans into an offensive caricature of them, Jar Jar becomes all the more disgusting.)

“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”

I guess Lucas is just so in love with those old serials that he can't help but emulate them in every way -- old-fashioned racist warts and all.

There is one thing I like about KOTOR: The Rakata. They're Lightsaber-wielders who aren't Sith and still were able to rule the galaxy. I feel that they could be the villains of episodes 7-9.

You see. That is why I doubt you have ever play KOTOR or SWTOR. Rakata did not wield lightsabres. At least KOTOR gives no such indication.

They wield lightsabers in Dawn of the Jedi. I didn't mean to imply that every aspect of them that I mentioned was established in KOTOR itself.

I will stick to KOTOR and as far as I am concerned Rakata did not have lightsabres.

I really don't understand your functioning. In one instance you complain about something as petty as lightsabre colour variety, and in other you like that they stick lightsabre in every era and "pollute" every faction with it. What about the variety in this case?

The Rakatans weild forcesabers, which are basically just lightsabers which can only be activated by the dark side of the Force.

Suffice it to say, I personally have mixed feelings on the idea.
