A New direction for Lucasfilm Animation — Page 5

Just finished it all now, the last arc with Yoda made a great ending to the show, despite many plot threads still being left open due to the abrupt cancellation.

The first and last arc make a huge way in filling in the gaps when it comes to big parts of the PT, while the second and third arcs are just a continuation of the series.

Would have been nice to see the other two planned arcs for season 6, the last Maul arc (which is being adapted into a comic book of course), and supposedly an arc involving Ahsoka.

I'll discuss my opinions on this season more later, as I don't want to spoil anything for people here on accident.

Somewhere I know, is a great version of the PT amongst TCW and Rebels episodes, that could substitute until some sort of remake or re-edit of the PT is done by Disney.  Just need to find it.

The Yoda ARC was horrible. Incredibly retarded plot holes i,e Yoda learning the force Ghost technique yet never using it till the end of ROTJ, Yoda somehow being the most powerful Jedi yet not knowing the technique, also the fact he didn't tell the Jedi what he saw after his "quest" about them all dying in Order 66 really sealed the deal about PT Yoda being a senile retard.

The writing was lazy it was all basically a dream sequence conjured by a Sith ritual by Dooku and Palpatine, based on the supposed "Force bond"between Yoda and Dooku. Nowhere else in cannon does their supposed "bond" exist, the writers just sort of shoved that in there. Darth Bane's inclusion was fucking pointless, he literally comes in and Yoda just talks and he's gone. The funniest part is where Yoda goes through some generic "fight your inner demons" bullshit, and he fights this black smoke facsimile of himself and it literally sounds like Gollum from LOTR.

In short it was a massive waste of time and further proof that the TCW series was horrible. The only plus was Tim Curry's performance as Darth Sidious was amazing

Well, that's your opinion.  I do see where you are coming from, and can agree with your points to a degree on the last arc.  I tend to except a little bit more of the out-there PT SW mythos than most, so I tend to focus more on the tangible quality of the episode, and not the fact that TCW is still stuck in a scrictly PT-like world.

However, TCW is better than the prequels the huge majority of the time, so I wouldn't say it is a horrible series.

And please resist from spoilers for now, or at least we could just have a separate "TCW spoilers discussion" thread.

LOL. As if canon* means a goddamned thing at this point in the franchise's history.

*The word you're looking for is "canon", not "cannon"; "cannon" is a weapon that goes BOOM!, while "canon" is a ridiculous concept that goes BOOM!

This really leads me to believe your entire post was troll bait. Curry is the WORST. I have no idea how they ended up casting him to follow up the spectacular performance of the late Ian Ambercrombie.

I liked the mention that the Whills (?) gave about Luke. They told Yoda that he would instruct (the) one to bring balance to the Force. Does this imply Luke is the actual chosen one?

My stance on revising fan edits.

...adding "force bond" to the list of things invented in the PT era merely for the sake of plot that completely disappeared from both existence and memory by the time Luke turned 19. Same category as flying astromech droids, martial arts, and explosive ordnance.

It amuses me when parts of the Star Wars franchise based on the prequels go ahead and undermine the prequels. The accompanying taste of iron is just delicious.

It was just pointed out to me that in the "Moraband" episode, Sidious speaks the same language that Kun learned on Yavin IV.

So did anyone think it was cool that they managed to squeeze Mark Hamill into that last episode?

I did.

Can anyone tell me why all the Rodians in TCW seem to have blue/green eyes? Frankly, I think it's a creative decision that looks awful and makes the animation of the creatures look cheap.

They're not so much blue/green as they are sparkly galaxy eyes. I just figured they all contracted Bledsoe's disease. =P

Well, I watched the first three seasons of TCW and the first two episodes of the fourth, and I've pretty much decided to stop watching here.

Yes, the show is better than the PT, with far better writing, acting, and characterization. However, that doesn't save it from mediocrity; the Jedi are still overpowered and lame, the villains are still two-dimensional, there is still too much universe shrinkage, for every good episode there are five lame ones, and beyond Ahsoka and -- surprisingly -- Padmé, I just don't really care about any of the main characters.

Perhaps I'll complete watching TCW one day, but only gradually, with an episode or three every two months or so, 'cause frankly, there are other series I'm far more interested in watching/rewatching than this one.

So the rest of the Ventress arc in the series will be coming to us in book form.

Reading those quotes about the storylines...  Why not just let it finish Disney?!  I trust the Lucasfilm team to make Rebels a great show (and at an earlier point than TCW), but I really just wish I could have SEEN everything else go on.  Even though it might not be the OT, the show grew on me so much...

Obviously, my rumblings don't help revive this series, but I just get so sad and angry about it all still.

With the shorter clips like the intro you can find a url in the header of the web page, for example:

<meta property="og:video:secure_url" content="https://secure.vp.disney.go.com/xd_shortform/unknown/lf00256/08762d-hlf00256_me4_lightsaber-h264m_aac_848x480_536x64.mp4">

But this doesn't work with the longer clips and my internet-fu cannot work out how to construct the valid url.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, as we know from past experience starwars.com likes to drop content when it no longer suits them.
