Hmm. Yes. Perhaps I should also add that the person who remakes a film shouldn't just love/respect it, but also have something significantly new to bring to the table; if you're just going to regurgitate a movie without putting a fresh spin on it, then what's the point?

 Like "The Wicker Man" remake? Had some very interesting points to make about male/female dichotomy, and a bold vision of bees/matriarchal society imagery to layer on the original film. Must have been a perfect remake.

I guess all the Body Snatcher films (excluding the one with Commander Bond and Virginia Woolf in) Carpenter's, The Thing and Cronenberg's The Fly had something new to say and were films in their own right.

But like The Wicker Man they were adapted from an already existing story.
