That's too bad he has to think that way and can't just enjoy it. :p I mean, it's not like he's paid to like Star Trek and shun Star Wars. I love both, so I'll never understand why people would deprive themselves like that just to make a pointless point. Heh.

Well it's strange because he loves Harrison Ford, Alec Guinness and he recognized Peter Cushing. And Star Wars aside, we love the same "modern era" movies, and he knows more like black and white movies. I liked almost everything he showed me. I thinks he just finds my love for SW ridiculous (I even started entering the Extended Universe with Timothy Zahn sequel trilogy).

I have this now, but um...it's 9.28 GB, which is too big for a DL DVD, so...can I only watch it on my computer? :/ I was all set to burn it and watch on my PS3, but it seems I can't.

I'm watching the movie on my PS3, but I burn it on a Blu-Ray disc. If you don't have one you have to recompress the movie in order to fit a dvd or you can split the movie in multiple parts with tsMuxer.

johnlocke2342, too bad for your father :(

Dear all,

i'm new to this board, and the reason why i found it and this post is mainly the same as everyone around. Be able to enjoy the original trilogy.

Would it be possible for you to share it with me so that I can add my connection to the seeding ?

Sincerely yours,

Yeah well it looks like he hates everything I show him. I KNEW he'd love "The Big Bang Theory" as he's really into science (as I am), but he didn't even watch it when I brought it. When he caught it by himself on NRJ12, he loved it and started following it. The same goes with my mom. The only movie I showed her that she liked was "Forrest Gump". There's such a big generation gap between us, and even between them.

Here are the first 20 minutes of the 16mm reel :

http://vimeo.com/69518333 (pass : ot.com)

The film is projected on a wall and it was filmed with my camcorder, so the quality is not very good. And after 13 minutes, something happened on the projector and the image becomes a little fuzzy.
It's just to show how the movie looks. I will make the same thing for ESB.

Maybe you should get this into Puggo's hands.

I have already ask him ! But for the moment he has no time. Maybe later...

Awesome!!

Is there any audio output on the projector? Maybe you could record the audio since it's the original mono mix it would be interesting to preserve it.

“English, motherf***er! Do you speak it!?”

Author

Yes, I plan to capture the audio.

But I don't know if there is a real french mono mix. It's maybe only the stereo track downmixed. I'm not sure that there is a different french mono mix like the english mono mix.

It's definitely not a downmix, you can clearly hear some sounds in the mono mix which are not in the stereo mix.

For example, when Luke is playing with his Skyhopper wingtip then suddenly puts it on the table next to him and says: "C'est vraiment pas juste. Tous mes copains sont déjà pilotes, moi je suis prisonnier ici!" You can hear the sound of the wingtip hitting the table in the mono mix but not in the stereo mix.

I've checked a lot of different scenes, these are two different mixes.

It would be good if you can make the list of all these differences.

I'm beginning to work on Empire strikes back : "L'empire contre-attaque".

There are no french subs on this movie. The work is to redone the original french crawl and the french ending credits.

Here is a video of the french crawl. There are 3 sources : the official FOX VHS, the first LD release and a VHS from a tv broadcast.

http://vimeo.com/74863306 (pass : ot.com)

The TV VHS seems to be less cropped than the others.

The french ending credits are only available on the TV VHS. Curiously on the official VHS and on the LD, it's the english credits. The quality is not very good and it will be complicated to read all the credits written with a small font.

The release of french ESB will be first based on Harmy Deed V1.0.

It's interesting that there WERE French credits though. This might be an indication, that there were in fact German credits as well, which I didn't know of.

The german fullscreen VHS of ROTJ from 1990 has english credits.

I just ripped the french Laserdisc, in order to have a good widescreen model for the crawl.

Here it is, with a few seconds of the intro :

Hahahahahahaha the crawl's so pink! Why would they let such a faded source rule an LD release?

Those of us who've been collecting the format since the 80's have seen far worse. The idea of using a pristine source for a video release simply didn't happen much until well into the 90's.

Hi. I just started a new thread (http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Star-Wars-Despecialized-Edition-The-International-Blu-ray-Project/topic/16467/). My goal is to bring together all the foreign preservations together on a same disc to give all non native English speakers like me a choice between the original version and the version they grew up with. Would you be OK for me to use footage from your version (namely: the Opening and ending credits and the Greedo bit), giving you credit for it of course.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone know if the theatrical French audio for Star Wars had the "extra" score during the trash compactor scene referred to in this thread?

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/International-Audio-including-Voice-Over-Translations/topic/14451/page/5/

Apparently at least the Spanish audio had this extra music on their VHS releases.  I'm not sure if any German home video releases had it, but it was on the German theatrical prints as well.  I suspect it was on the international master used by the French, Italian, and Japanese theatrical releases.  You can hear the music on Laserschwert's German theatrical audio reconstruction for Star Wars.  It had been removed on the German and Spanish GOUT audio.

Anyway, if someone can confirm this music was on the theatrical release (or at least on VHS releases, which strongly implies it was on the theatrical release), I should be able to merge the music into my copy of the GOUT audio, unless someone has a different suggestion.

Is there any news ? Not really.

I plan to make a new release of ANH based on Harmy's 2.5 and to make a release of ESB. But I'm waiting to have good materials. I will hopefully soon obtain good scans of french 16mm reels of ANH and ESB. Then I will be able to made a perfect crawl and ending credits for the two movie and perfect subtitles for the Greedo sequence.

For the moment I'm waiting about theses scans.

Good crawls for both movies? I thought that the first one was in English on your 16mm print.
