A blend using something like 2/3 of the LD's luma and 2/3 of the Blu's chroma could be ideal. I doubt it would work given the differences in framing and distortion on the older master.

Does the laserdisc have the same ghosting from DNR as the first DVD?

The '93 LD was the same master as the first DVD, but the '87 LD was different.

I don't think so. It feels like it's a straight dump from a 35mm print.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

I realized the guide needs a small update.  Apparently the 3D version of Chicken Little is inexplicably poor, which should be mentioned.

I know I haven't given comment to the recent Jungle Book (which seems to be as poor as expected).

Anyone have any other updates they want added or that I've missed?

Btw, just re-watched Chicken Little for the first time in 8 years and was shocked to find it enjoyable.  That wasn't my experience the first time.  No idea why, but it was worth a second look.

Hi, does TJB have a HD version with it's full image like SITS ? That might be more interesting to watch, actually.

There is a 1080i hdtv version listed on TehParadox but the only screen shot isn't from an animated scene.  I have no idea what the quality is and it's about all I can find.

Anyone else?

I think when it came out, it was put down mostly for not being a Pixar movie. This was when Pixar was close to the end of it's original deal with Disney, and the mouse was even going to make a Toy Story sequel of their own.

My Mom was actually the one that got me to watch it, and I was pleasantly surprised.

Where were you in '77?

The 1988 Cinderella CAV is very similar to the 1990 Peter Pan one, except the print is a bit dirtier than that one. Very vivid colors (who knows if they're correct) and balanced contrast. Also seems to have better shadow detail than the 1995 one, but something of a blue-pink haze.

cms382, thanks for the caps. I really enjoyed the 88' transfer look.

The left two are the older and newer LDs, respectively. The rightmost one is the DVD.

There should be a mkv version of the older LD too D: at least while there isn't any 35mm restoration

True. Molly did have one once made out of her own LD. You can always ask her if she still have a copy.

Oh I got it, but it's from the 95' LD

cms382, which version do you have in LD ?

Well, when I get my equipment back I can try to rip the 1988 CAV if it's in demand...

Indeed, thank you very much Molly.

Don't thank me yet... I still have to get my equipment back. :P

Chances are I'll prolly have it back next month, depending on circumstances. I'll see what I can do, but don't hold your breath.

I may have a 1988 CLV rip somewhere, but don't count on that either since I only capped any of that for the "Walt Disney Classics" bumper.  I could cap that too, but...again...only when I have my player back.

Dr M, the 1080i hdtv version you mentioned uses exactly the same master for the actual blu-ray. I just checked. I will post later some screen caps of it and also some of the gold collection dvd edition .

I have huffyuv captures of the 88 CAV, I'm just not sure about the encoding settings to mkv.
