I don't know of any programs that will rip and also speed-correct the sound. I use mencoder, but it uses a codec similar to and compatible with XviD - that's not really XviD.

The Linux tool mencoder, which has been ported to Windows, is useful

mencoder -ovc lavc -oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=audiobitrate -lavcopts vhq:vqscale=quantizer:aspect=16/9 -dvd-device d: dvd://titlenumber -o filename.avi

(I used quantizer of 4 and audio bitrate of 128 kbps for the Dr. Gonzo encodes.)

Yeah, it's a bit confusing. But I'm used to it.

I know there's other, easier tools too. This is just one I know personally.

BTW: if you rip the subs with SubRip, you can mux them with the AVI into an OGM using Virtual Dub Mod (this is commonly done).
