Here is a preview showing the raw comparison of the intro, ALTA, and crawl, and parts of the flyover.

Note, this is the unprocessed, uncorrected version.

We've posted the cleaned up intro and crawl before. (See previous links).

This compares a few of the laserdisc versions, and the SE.

You can see the different changes in the different films, and types as the changes occur.

Sorry about the issue with the video people. There was a problem with the video compression, and size. I have to reduce it from 1440x1080 and will let you know once it's be reposted.

Thanks.

that video was great!  I love when you guys post stuff like that :)

Thanks. We had to leave off the audio, because that causes issues. But it should be easy to sync it with the GOUT if you want the full effect.

What I really love about this project from what I have seen so far, is the fact, that it really looks like 1977 again.

This trailer:

http://vimeo.com/49889448

awakens something in me I can't possibly describe.

You really feel the effort George Lucas and the whole crew put into this movie. It does not look like some cheap CGI-flick.

I'm depressed and sometimes even suicidal, but these things really keep me alive.

We agree that our preservation and restoration will be the best one out there that captures the feel of the original movie.

While Harmy's version is a nice recreation, it does not match what the original looked like. Even the technicolor reference is good, but not exact as it has a green cast to it, and depending on your interpretation, can vary in parts.

We have seen the samples provided to him, and we also have our own reference versions of the technicolors to look at also. We find the LPP has its own warmth and color reference that will provide a truer sense to us of one version of Star Wars that can't be captured with other means.

Also the technicolor versions out there are very beat up, and have lots of damage in them, compared to the relatively light damage to the headers and tails of the LPP.

There might be some comparisons of the two in the future.

I think we'd all be better off by not puffing ourselves up as having better projects and instead all work together for the sake of the movies without ego getting in the way . . .

Ego will always be a problem as long as "negative1" is part of the project name.

I'm pretty sure that image-only post didn't add any value to the discussion.

Working together with another group means that no one would ever be able to share anything according to another person, due to liablility.

We have always said our version will be released and you can see for yourself the progress and status of it over the last few years.

You will never be able to see any of the final or intermediate results of the other project. Just claims and random screenshots of the crawl, although the project might be somewhat complete.

Look at how many people have enjoyed Harmy's project.

You can't have it both ways. Either you share your final work and let other people see it, or you keep it to yourself and keep talking about how great it is.

We know that people want to see footage, and we are happy to post screenshots, videos, and comparisons as we go along.

Yes we know the rationale behind not sharing it, but since we don't have to deal with those issues, that's not stopping us, as we are in much better position and understand how to deal with the limitations of the circumstances.

Instead of being public about who we are, we choose to stay anonymous because we knew that ultimately that it would not hinder us. If we choose to go public, no one here on this site or anyone else would get a release.

We choose to share our final product with people, and we know that our version will be the best and highest quality available given our resources and knowledge. No one else can match those claims, and we have yet to see any proof or evidence of anything better out there.

I think you missed the point.  Or you just chose to ignore it.

Priceless ...............................  :)

Plenty of value to this discussion considering the dead horse remarks.

Just as a better comparison, here is the Raw LPP vs GOUT for the intro, and flyover again.

Its interesting to watch the movie synced up, and see where the edits line up, and the framing of the picture.
