Whoops, was totally going to post these links last night and... didn't.  My bad.

The videos seem to have taken a little bit of a hit in quality; I assume that's due to some kind of compression YouTube has going in the background?  I dunno.  But it should still give a good idea of how they'll look.

One more thing: the videos are unlisted, so please don't share them too widely.  Thanks.

Alternate Scene: Pike's Office

Alternate Scene: Klingon Conversation

Deleted Scene: Captain's Log

Deleted Scene: Thomas Calls Marcus

Deleted Scene: Kirk Watches Pike Get Shot

Deleted Scene: Kronos Fight Before Khan Arrives

Deleted Scene: Carol's Accent Explained

Deleted Scene: Scotty Talking To Hangar Control

Deleted Scene: The Harewoods

Behind The Scenes: Karl Urban: Bomb Defuser

Blooper: Klingons Dancing On Set

Hope to be recording the final versions tomorrow.  :)

Wow. A lot of these were so much better. Especially Pike's death.

I’m just here because I’m driving tonight.

Hmm, not sure if that is really worth including. the other stuff is all great.

@ digitalfreaknyc

what remains to be done?

Apparently I'm not a part of this any more. I have no idea what Dark Jedi is doing but mine will certainly have stuff that his does not. You'd have to check with him. He doesn't answer my PM's.

Well good for you, now you didn't see me making those kind of claims to you, but cheap shots are cool I guess, so thank you.

Well guys I am not 100% sure but it is certainly leaning this way, but we have so much stuff and even more coming that our release will have to be 2 BD's, 1 BD50 and 1 BD25, and these will have the typical Team Blu treatment so you will see and hear fully authored Blu-rays, also we have some new artwork coming.

By the way people are free to share what they want, we are by no means saying just get ours, others may be saying this but you will read nothing of the sort from any of us, so grab what you want.

Please explain how that's a cheap shot?

I like the Pike scene with Kirk.  But it sounds like on set dialogue.

Its all very temporary feeling, no adr, no foley, no music.

The way Greenwood delivers his lines is almost Vulcan like disapproval.

Too cold and not enough emotion is shown.  It is also as if Bruce is practicing saying the lines knowing he will redo them in post.

The rest of the stuff is neat to see but i can understand why they were cut these are standard trims.

The Hendrickson name for Harrison/Khan is interesting however.

I have a bunch of trailers on my hard drive, downloaded from the iTunes site back then. If they are needed for the project, just ask me. They are not rare or anything, though ... and I suspect that most of us have them already.

Wasn't it Erickson?

I agree that the Pike/Kirk scene works much better in the final movie, the only two scenes I would have kept in the movie are the ones about Carol's accent (blends in flawlessly into the scene) and the one where Scotty gains access to the Io facility (which is at least trying to explain how he has gotton in there so easily).

It was indeed Erickson.  I think it's a reference to the fact that the original conception of Khan in "Space Seed" was named Harold Erickson.  This article at io9 talks a bit about it, kind of neat trivia.

For anyone curious, I am still uploading stuff.  It's 2.2GB of deleted scenes, VFX stuff, and random videos and I'm working around my flatmates playing MMOs and yelling at me for sucking up their bandwidth.  I think I'll just post the download links here in the forum thread so anyone that wants 'em can have the files.

That being said... who has the blooper reel and can send it my way?  ;)

^ anything you can share is definitely appreciated.

So here's something potentially interesting. Listening to and reading about the soundtrack I discovered that Harrison's [;)] music isn't on the soundtrack - and it's a pretty damn good piece of music.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6m3kV47Jgwg

I then discovered that the music in the bar when Kirk calls up Scotty is different based on release territory. I just checked my Itunes files and the two versions [theatrical / commentary] indeed have different backing songs during that scene. - they sound similar with different lyrics [different performers] - I think the tune was written by Abrams.

I wonder what the odds are of compiling all versions of that scene?

Correct, Abrams did write that one.  :)  I, uh, actually have all those extra regional releases of the bar song EXCEPT the Brazilian one by Ceu (which pisses me off because that's the one I wanted most).  I can upload those too, I suppose...  XD

My hope was that Varese Sarabande would be releasing a deluxe edition of the STID soundtrack like with the 2009 movie and that the extra stuff, including "Ode to Harrison" would be on it.  Still haven't heard a peep about it though.  :(

that would be awesome.

I assume there will be an extended soundtrack at some point but I wouldn't expect the bar scene tunes to be included, or any other source music ie: Beastie Boys.

The Blu Rays all have the same song for the bar scene, right? The UK version has "The Growl" by Conway.

Edit: I just checked my UK Blu Ray again, and although the end credits only list The Growl, there are different versions for the English audio (The Rage In Us All) and the Spanish/Italian (The Growl), as well as the French audio (I Wanna Race With You).

Interestingly enough, the German Blu Ray features The Growl on the German audio track and The Dark Collide (the supposed Australian variant!) on the English audio track!

So I going through my video on demand (the cable channel Epix in the US) and the copy of ST:ID is 16:9 the whole way through. I'm wondering if someone can rebuild the Imax version from this. Does anyone know which parts of the movie were filmed with the Imax cameras?

Can you tell if there is actually more picture on the top and bottom or if it's cropped at the sides?

If it's 16:9 the whole way, it might have just been cropped from the 2.35:1. Either way, can you do a capture?

I've got the whole film cut together using the Enhanced Commentary. There are lots of parts that can't be fixed due to either a BTS shot plastered on the frame or actual missing frames.

It would just be a matter of plugging the appropriate scenes in and seeing if they match. It would be pretty simple.

I just watched enough to make sure it was 16:9 throughout but the opening scene in the "red jungle"  looked to have more information on the top and bottom (same as the Imax).

I will try to run a capture this weekend. I can do HD but I probably don't have as great of equipment as others. I will try to capture and take screenshots.

The shots where Kirk and Khan are "skydiving" to the other ship in space -- those should be in IMAX. When the movie cuts back to the ships' interiors, these are non-IMAX.

I can't post a screenshot at the moment, but the way to compare whether you're seeing it in IMAX vs. everything being cropped --

When Kirk gets his helmet glass cracked, the camera switches to first-person view inside his helmet. On IMAX, at the top of the frame, you should be able to see the black visor "lip" of his helmet swooping down into the frame across the entire screen -- about an inch above "OFF COURSE". In non-IMAX, we can't see any lip at all -- only glass.

Edit: I've removed the links.  PM me if you need them again for some reason, but for the most part, I think the relevant people have downloaded the material already.

Ok I did a quick-and-dirty capture of EPIX's VOD presentation this morning and here are the results.

The good is that the Imax scenes are 16:9, I took some screen caps. The aren't the exact frames (I have a baby in one arm and a computer in the other, so accuracy is lacking)

Blu-ray (Top)/VOD (Bottom)

Blu-ray (Top)/Elegant Tobacco's Image\VOD (Bottom)

The 2.35 scenes seem to be cropped at the sides and not open matte.

The bad news is that the presentation is watermarked/bugged but luckily not continuously throughout. The EPIX logo comes and goes:

And sadly, even worse, there is a lot of macro-blocking/bad mpg-2 compression:

I made a 14GB MKV (1080i/ac3) of the capture.

LINK TIME.  All the files are more or less named correctly, and not as my stupid abbreviations below.  >_>

Enjoy!

First of all THANK YOU akiotena again!

I can't download the deleted scene "thomas calls marcus - http://180upload.com/xybbvhdnkgrk". I always get this error message: "This server is in maintenance mode. Refresh this page in some minutes."

Also this two links are the same:

video spruce goose - http://180upload.com/e3r7f3rcm9sj
video there will be darkness - http://180upload.com/e3r7f3rcm9sj

And it's the link to the Spruce Goose Hangar video. So it's missing the link to "there will be darkness" video.

Best,

Maab
