Help: looking for... an edit with the Star Wars deleted scenes reinserted

Is there somewhere to find a fan edit of Star Wars with the deleted scenes put back in?  Specifically those with Biggs.  When I saw the movie in theaters in 1977 I know I saw at least pieces of these in the movie.  I know I saw Luke looking at the battle, I know I saw Biggs walking away from Luke at Toschi Station.  Granted I was only 6 years old at the time but I know I saw these scenes in the movie being shown at UA150 Cinema in Seattle (the theater that made the most money of all US cinemas in the world for this film and which is now a parking lot).

I know this topic is probably old as hell but is there anyone who can post a link or shoot a PM?  I know I am not the only one who is looking.  Has anyone thought of making a sticky for such things?

I am really tired of clicking through 25 pages of posts, mostly about the prequels on a site dedicated to the ORIGINAL TRILOGY.

Please and thank you.

Two threads with exactly the same OPs!  How weird!

The other thread had the deleted word 'with' reinserted.

You appear to be suffering from false memories.  Steve Sansweet (ex-Director of Content Management and head of Fan Relations at Lucasfilm) has said that the movie was never officially released with these scenes.

And Mark Hamill said he never filmed the deleted light saber scene that was supposed to be at the beginning of Jedi.

I hope the mods will indulge this caption card as it says it all.

You probably read the scenes in the comic and added them to your memory of the film. They were never shown theatrically and Luke never missed with the hook swing. Believe it or not Bob Peck never turned into a tree either but I remember that.

I know what I saw the first time I saw the movie.  None of the subsequent times did these scenes appear.  But the film also melted in the projector at my first screening too.

Granted, I did own all of the original comics but I could quite easily differentiate between Marvel's lousy artwork and the live action shots.

But I also had a Meccano Cinevue with two Star Wars cartridges that had these scenes on one of them.  I would give just about anything to find those again.

 The difference is: proof.

One day someone will start a Church Of the Deleted Scenes and it will be full of aging 1977ers who remember seeing Biggs on Tatooine :-D

Hmmm.  Seems to me that if "aging 1977ers" say it happened then there might be some credence to the claim.  Out of the mouth of two or three witnesses let a thing be established.

But this is getting way off topic.  I know there is no "Official" release of the film but where can I find a decent copy of a fan made version?  I have all the scenes and could hack and slash them together myself but by the time I got it completed it would look worse than Jake Lloyd or Hayden Christensen trying to act.

You were 6.  You didn't see it.  Let it go.  All the evidence is against you.  Simply insisting you saw something you didn't see doesn't mean you saw it.  People insist they saw Luke miss with the hook too, never happened.  Accept it.  Go on with your life.  Eat a sandwich.

Fine but you are still off topic.

Does a fan made copy exist? Yes or no.

I'm working on an on/off project to insert any and all deleted  footage into ANH to make an aproximation of the lost workprint. Here is a bit of old and rough workprint footage (From 6 months ago) of the first 15 minutes...

https://vimeo.com/72365782

It's got all the Biggs footage (Amongst other things) in context, if you just want to see how it plays out. It's all in B&W though.

(I think I've since scrapped it all and started again LOL)

OMG dude that is awesome!  Do you just want access my bank account now?  Take Paypal?

Like I said, I have access to all of those scenes but could never have made a re-assemble like that.  Good job!  I will be waiting eagerly for updates.

Yeah Fanedits are never for money but thanks for the feedback :-)

There is an old thread covering that project in the fanedit section. I've worked on 3 versions so far (That clip ^ was from the second) and I'm probably gonna start on a fourth at some point (The 3rd version is gonna be scrapped too for complicated reasons). If you want to see more clips just browse my Vimeo channel, there are maybe 15+ videos showing deleted material re-instated. Like this...

SW: Lost Workprint - Beru Placement / Speeder & Sand People / Camp Greedo Vocal (Rough Tests)

All the audio is unfinished though.

Not if it didn't happen and it didn't happen.

Spoken like someone who never experienced the reel Star Wars (pun intended).

I agree, that's pretty damn cool.

@Ryan McAvoy

I dig that 15 minute test footage.

I could watch the whole movie like that. Seems like a fun alternative.

Just an idea - Maybe leave the whole project black and white, tighten the editing/music here and there and add dust and scratches to the standard footage to blend it all together.

Whatever you decide though - good start - Cool stuff.
