RLM has used my Visual Comparisons before, so it may be a possibility.

Or any number of Palpatine impersonators would work.

I wonder if Mike Stoklasa would be interested in just saying "Luke" if the Ian McDarmid clip isn't sufficient. He does a mean Emperor....

I've been wanting to suggest this since the original emperor clip was posted, but wasn't brave enough.  :P

Wow! I finally remembered my login details after several years away!

Been stopping by now and again to read some of the progress of Ady's edit. But I just read the latest topic ideas of inserting "Luke" into Palpatines speech.

Not sure if it was discussed, but wondering why Lukes name is to be inserted? As to me this doesn't make sense.

Palpatine to my knowledge does not know Lukes name at this point. But "young Skywalker" is a reference to him "feeling" with the force that the offspring of Anakin is on the scene, aka young skywalker.  Infact, as far as we've seen in the movies, even Vader should not know Lukes name seeing as he wasn't present at the birth or upbringing of Luke. Only way I can see Vader finding out Lukes name in Empire, is perhapse word of mouth of the hero of the battle of Yavin. .. Which in turn i suppose Palpatine could have heard it too.

But, this scene indicates that this "new Enemy" is new news to Palpy. And it is after this scene that Vader mentions Lukes name, though his info likely comes from any one of the captured gang on Bespin. (who knows what was said at that table with Vader/han Leia etc..)

Anyways, just puttin that out there. peace out! ;-)

Keep in mind that until 2004, Palp's line was "we have a new enemy...Luke Skywalker."

This is true, but yoda1138 made an interesting point - there's really no reason why the emperor should know Luke's name at that point. So since this is a fanedit, and not a preservation, if it turns out Ady can't find a suitable audio clip to use, and it ends up just being "young Skywalker", I don't think it's a big deal. It might even be an improvement, taking yoda1138's comment into consideration.

The Emperor would know about Luke Skywalker by this point. He's the guy that blew up the friggin Death Star. Word gets around.

I'm not entirely convinced of this, considering the Rebels are an underground group in hiding and trying to keep the location of their base (and presumably anything that could connect them to the Rebels - e.g. their names and involvement) a secret.

Ultimately it doesn't make a difference in the context of the line anyway. Even if he does know his name, it doesn't automatically mean he'd refer to him by it. The Emperor might be more grandiose than that. I think saying "Young Skywalker" rather than Luke suits him. Very theatrical.

Makes no difference to me either way.

We discussed this topic several times on this thread......so going by the original versions of the films (and not the Ian McDiarmid SE version) the Emperor, Vader and the Galaxy well knows the name of the Rebel who destroyed the Death Star,....Vader & Palps both know who's son he is....

There is a disturbance in the Force......suddenly somewhere in the Galaxy there is something happening,....Luke is in training with a Jedi Master, the vibrations of this event is like a fly on a spiders web

We have a new enemy.....Luke Skywalker is a potential threat,...to upset the Sith's control of the Galaxy

The new dialogue of the SE throws this concept out the window, Palps only then knows the name of the Rebel & Vader pretends not to, even though the opening crawl says Vader was obsessed in finding young Skywalker

To me, "young Skywalker" is far more personal, and implies that Luke is so well known across the galaxy that you don't even need to use his first name. It makes it far less impressive that the Emperor is giving this information to Vader. The Emperor is this mysterious figure at this point, and his knowledge of Luke is a sign of his power and influence.

Reporting "Luke Skywalker" conveys this in a far more meaningful way.

Preferred Saga:
1/2: Hal9000
3: L8wrtr
4/5: Adywan
6-9: Hal9000

 Yeah, about that...

Will the crawl be edited to something like "The rebel who destroyed the Death Star" or something similar - or is it going to stay as it was in 1980?

I ask because I vaguely remember it being discussed some years ago but I can't remember Ady's stance on this.

On the young vs. Luke thing I'd rather it stayed "young Skywalker" if I had to choose. Not that "Luke" would sound bad, or out of place and it does make sense in some level but I like it better as it is.

The crawl is not being touched, and I'm pretty sure Ady can find a way to get him to say "Luke". Not to worry.

The first glimpse at the shield generator model incorporated into the movie......

Even if he can be an arsehole at times, you still have to admit:

(1) he has talent

(2) he has some interesting ideas.  The recoloring of the Falcon to match it's look in EMPIRE?  I think that's pretty awesome.  Same thing with tilting Tatooine in the opening shot to match all subsequent shots (or flattening Tatooine in the following shots to have continuity), and while I could go either way on a lot of the color timing alterations, he still has some really good ideas on spatial composition.

I'd never say that this guy isn't talented. I think his talent is amazing. It's just that we have such completely different views towards Star Wars and i just don't like the direction his colour correction is going, but that's just my personal opinion.  This is why it would have been impossible to work with him on an edit because we have such different styles.

It's beautiful Adywan!  I am getting very excited over this release!  I remember joining up here nearly 3 years ago with this thing "almost ready" to be released, and then....it obviously has had plenty more work to go on it.  Nevertheless, I've waited patiently for so long, and I believe it really is almost ready to be released, and I'm only more excited than ever.  Keep it up!

And I agree 100% about Angel.  Great ideas, but very different.

Thanks for the preview Ady. It looks fantastic. Can't wait to see it replace the original problematic shots.

I'm a bit disappointed you didn't build a GIANT life size scale model though.

;)
