Here is the 2nd part of our Holiday in house preview. Again, don't be too concerned about the color variations, or crushed, blown out parts. That's just the camera filming it:

Note, there is quite a bit of damage on the right hand of the frame throughout the entire reel.

Here are 720p HD screenshots from our preview, for those that still are wondering if they came from our sources, or are upscaled or not. These are from the previously posted video.

You can see damage and clipping that is unique to our first Kodak source:

Are these images taken direct from your source files or have you just taken them from your heavily compressed preview video? If you are taking them from your preview video then surely it would be better to show off how the print looks against posting screenshots that are from heavily compressed video. The first picture of the troopers looks terrible and would give anyone interested in this project completely the wrong impression.

The compression is extremely bad. It looks like a 320x240 picture.

Here are some more current screenshot samples, from the newer print version of ESB that was used for the screening.

The originals were done in done 1080p, these are scaled down.

We'll work on getting more updates out soon.

I LOVE looking at these.  It makes it clear that there IS a way to save these fabulous movies and have their grace returned to them for fans to enjoy.

The shot of the Star Destroyers is freeking awesome.  You wouldn't have a larger version one could use as a desktop background, would you?

:)

Here's a larger version of this shot:

Here are sample frames from our other Fujicolor Print. This was the one used to project at the screening.

NOTES:

1) These are not cleaned for dirt.

2) These are slightly color corrected.

3) Some cropping was done on the images.

4) Images are downscaled from 2k to 1080p.

That probably is 100% quality, if not higher. These shots are from a highly compressed "preview" video, so making the screen caps larger isn't going to improve anything.

Team -1 has an odd habit of posting these low-resolution shots.  As much as I disagree with the process, it does its job well enough and I always come back for more anyway.

Every preview they post has JPEG compression.

Well I don't think they make lossless JPG, so technically, yes, you are correct. Though I don't know how you can tell because the MPG/AVI/MOV/whatever compression is so high.

Asaki obviously has a JPEG Compression Knob that goes to 11. Far out.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

Wow, those are some of the worst screencaps in terms of image quality i've ever seen, makes it look below dvd level image quality with all that pixelation. I'm just glad that the program I use to preview the films regraded allows me to output high quality screencaps without all this pixelation.

I'm sure the guys here are doing a great job and I look forward to seeing what they release but the image quality of these screencaps are not doing this project any favours, same goes for the screencaps posted in the star wars thread, makes me wonder what the quality of the final product is going to be like. Either put up images that look good without all that compression or don't put up any at all IMHO.

We'll try to post further shots, once I get them. As I mentioned earlier, this is from a compressed source of the large DCP version that was projected. The original video was downsampled to 1080p to make it portable.

Also, the observation about the compression is correct, this is the quality from the current source.

This is an uncorrected version, with no cleaning done to the film.

We're still a ways off from starting the correction and cleaning.

This is merely a preview of the Fuji source, which is 1 of the 3 sources that we have.

By "higher than 100%", I meant it looks like the video might have been zoomed in before the shots were taken.

The compression is in the video file itself. I sound like a broken record, here.

A comparison of the two of the sources we have, with the Fuji version on the top, and the first Kodak print on the bottom:

Seems like the Fuji print has a bit more detail, at least in this shot.

I think the top image was how Bob Costas watched Empire before the Olympics, the bottom how he's watching now.
