DTS audio preservation .... UPDATE 07 May 2015 ... Work In Progress — Page 12

I heard it was, but never had it confirmed that's why I wondered what the disc said

From a past discussion I had, I believe the discs will be ES but not discrete like the DVD.  DTS-ES cinematically worked like Dolby EX, with the rear surround matrixed out of the L/R surround.

A SURPRISE Update:

Batman: The Dark Knight Rises has been FOUND!!  YAY!!

Now that I've announced that I want to say something about my discoveries .... when I get these I usually get dupes of cinema discs I'm looking for so they won't have all the normal info on the face of the disc.  I do have some actual discs that are not dupes .... but not many.  These dupes work NO different than the originals.  A DTS machine would recognize them as they would the original disc.  Other finds I have are straight 1:1 ISO's of the discs I am looking for so I have to burn them or use them straight on the PC.

Hopefully this clears up why I may not always have answers to certain questions like dvdmike's.  There are however ways to find out as borisanddoris has shown.

Cheers!!!!

Pardon me if this has been asked before, but do DTS discs for Titan A.E. exist?

The movie doesn't have a DTS logo on the credits, but the DVD has a DTS track. Would be nice to solve that little mystery if nothing else.

Where were you in '77?

Silverwook,

I do not know but I will ask around.

I've just finished uploading my regraded 16gb versions of The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions with the Cinema DTS audio you guys very kindly provided me with to tehparadox, completing the Matrix Trilogy.

I would just like to thank Jetrell Fo, Doombot and CapableMetal for the fantastic work you've done with these Matrix Cinema DTS audio tracks and allowing me to include them with my releases, absolutely amazing stuff. They are so much better than the TrueHD audio on the blu-rays that its difficult to believe. You guys have really opened my eyes to just how important a good audio track is for the overall enjoyment of a film, with your tracks included I've actually found  myself enjoying The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions a lot more than I ever expected so thank you!

You guys are a real asset to this forum, I'm sure I speak for everyone here when I thank you for the great work you do finding and providing us releasers with your great Cinema DTS audio tracks and I hope to be able to collaborate with you guys again in the near future. :)

I agree, and I repeat my thanks to Jetrell Fo, Doombot and CapableMetal, to have provided some Cinema DTS tracks for some of my projects; hope to be again your "client" for some of my future projects! (^^,)

Keep working on this, guys, it's an important task and I'm glad people like you are working on this great project...

BRAVI!!!

Well, if the source is IMDB, sometimes it is missing some info; but probably you are right... at least, there is always the gorgeous DTS-HD MA from BD!!!

Plus, I'm pretty sure the laserdisc AC3 soundtrack is a (almost) direct port of the theatrical Dolby Digital soundtrack...

I'm not sure if this is the place to do it... or if it's already been requested... or if I should even ask at all... But I'm just gonna go for it...  Has anyone seen a Cinema DTS disc for the original Shrek?  The DTS track on my DVD sounds worlds better to me than the Dolby track, but I'd imange the Cinema DTS disc greatly improves upon its DVD counterpart.

There is no DTS for The Arrival.  However, to answer Silverwook's question, there IS DTS for Titan A.E..

To kk and andrea, thanks for the nice words.  DoomBot does the bulk of the work, I am simply the acquirer and decoder.  Acquiring is a game of patience so that usually takes the longest.  I am thankful to him for accepting my request in the first place.  We work well together and everyone benefits.

When TeamBlu releases their S.E. set people will get to enjoy the cinema DTS that was kindly donated partially by Silverwook and his anonymous donator and my acquiring of TESB afterwards.

Teamwork makes ALL the difference.  Thanks to everyone for being supportive and patient.

nafroe,

I don't make it a priority to do personal requests for DTS audio.  Considering it can take some time to find some of these I usually look when a project is in search of alternate audio or for my own personal use.

That being said, if I look for Shrek, then I will see if I can find all 4 movies for future audio possibilities.  I will take a look but I cannot promise you a due date or finding it at all.  If someone I know has it there is always the possibility that I end up donating a little to them for their help in acquiring the discs.  I don't pass on those things to the folks who are using them to share with everyone and this audio has to be edited to sync with video.  I do not know your skill level but it is never a matter of just rip and sync .... these do not work that way.

Hey Shawn,
I am almost afraid to ask, but are there any Cinema DTS CD's available for Shocker, Rapid Fire and Showdown in Little Tokyo? if it is to much then don't worry about it, I really do not know what you have to do to track these down or what is needed, but I have these HD files now and having these tracks allow us to include a DTS-HD MA main track, thanks again for Bring it On and Rush Hour 2, damn I want to finish these up right now lol, especially RH2, I bet that is going to sound fantastic! hell I bet the Bring it On track sounds sweet as well.

Thanks again Shawn

What I CAN tell you is this ..... DTS started in 1993 so any movie before that year will NOT have it.  That said, it is not a guarantee that movies made after will as we found out with The Arrival which was Dolby/SDDS ONLY.

I can do a search DJ, and see what I can come up with.  I'm glad that you'll be getting audio wanted for the RH2 and BIO projects.

Cheers!!!

So 1993, that is good to know, thanks.

All 4 of us a re really glad to have these as well, I will get to work on them ASAP even though the Team is on break, at least I can get a jump on the audio, thanks again for finding these gems and sharing, it is appreciated by all!

Now a little rant lol, is anyone else having issues with this site? damn everything loads so darn slow, and what is with the space when you start your response? it seems to kick you over 1 space all the time lol, but the slowness is really getting very annoying, I can't be the only one noticing this lol, sorry just had to get that off my chest, I had to wait like a minute just to make this response, and hell sometimes it times out when hitting post reply.

Some re-issued films MAY have DTS discs.  Star Wars of course (1997 re-release) and E.T. (2002 re-release).

I'm trying to think of any other major re-releases in the past 20 years that would have discs that would be desirable.  It's possible Back to the Future did, but I'd imagine they'd be rare.

Also, Sony, Disney, Warner, and some others weren't supporting DTS until a little later on into the 90s.  Universal, Fox, and MGM I think were all there in early on, with the others coming on board later.

So for anyone hoping for Last Action Hero in DTS, well...

Too bad no one is able to get those SDDS-8 mixes somehow.  I wonder how those could even be presented at home.

Alien Director's Cut release was one as well, so was Little Mermaid.  As for SDDS, I don't even know IF there is a way to get it unless one could somehow capture it in the chain.  Then it would have to be handled by specs as best as one could.
