Star Wars OT & 1997 Special Edition - Various Projects Info (Released) — Page 156

I just check the first page synopsis 'coming soon' to see if there have been any releases. There was a post that said the SE would be completed by the end of the year 2013) but it will be done when it's done.

Actually ANH 97 SE is done, it has been done, I am looking at the test BD right now and it is finished, we are just waiting on SW 77 to be finished, we said we would release both at the same time so this is why it is not out in the wild yet.

Very cool! Can't wait to check these out!!!!!!

Yeah, the new V2 Blu-ray set is going to be great. V1 is really good, but from the screen shots, this is going to be on another level. :)

The Star Wars trilogy. There can be only one.

Weird and silly question, but as both '77 and '97 are being released at the same time, are you guys making cover art for a 2 pack?

“That’s impossible, even for a computer!”

We haven't made any ourselves but if somebody's interested in that, I guess everybody's free to create their own.

Nope. There is simply no way to do it over the whole movies and make it look good. That damage is done and there's no way we can repair it. But we're doing the best we can with what we have, so if you can stand watching the 2006 bonus DVDs as they are, you're gonna love our version.

Also does the 97 have digital smearing

 Yes.

IIRC the only masters with "digital smearing" were the ones used for the DC/Faces/GOUT because the notorious "dirt concealment" method was used.

That would mean the '97 is smear-free.

Only real problem would be its from an analog video disc from 1997-98.

Unless of course the DVB  were used, you would have to ask Team Blu.

Anyway the DVB have their own issues as well.

Unfortunately all of the available '97 versions, including VHS/laserdiscs and the DVB recordings are plagued with the smearing produced by DVNR.

Here's a couple pics from ESB 97 SE (TB version) to show you how the smearing looks.

So it's very similar to the GOUT.

I didn't know they used DNR for the '97 LDs. I think this is the first I'm hearing of it (though, since I'm not much of a SE fan, it's possible I read about it before and I just forgot).

With the dirt-concealment smearing on the DC/Faces/Gout releases being so notorious, I'm surprised DNR was used at all on the '97 LDs.

Well...not really all that surprised. :-/

See, though, that smearing doesn't look nearly as bad as the GOUT smearing to my eyes - assuming, of course, You_Too picked some blatant examples to act as good comparison points.  I figure it was probably applied less liberally.

Could someone PM me links to download full DVD versions of the OT letter-boxed limited editions that came out as bonus discs in 2006? I want full versions that include everything including the DVD menus so I can burn them to a disc and they work just like the retail versions. I never heard back from this Myspleen thing so if there is an alternate location to download them I would appreciate that, if Myspleen is the only place, could someone help me out as I have not heard back from my invitation request on Myspleen and I don't know where to find things there.

I'm afraid this would be piracy :/ My guess is that only option is to buy the 2-disc editions, if it's still available somewhere... Even if you already own the 2004 discs....

Are you incapable of understanding the rules?

There's the rules you read and the ones you read in-between. Sorry, but aren't we all a little guilty here? ;-} I didn't think it was illegal for me to ask for PM links of downloads? I already learned that you can't post downloads on the forum. Sorry, I'll stop.

Are you a moderator here? If you wouldn't have replied to my request, I could have re-typed what I said to be more in lines with forum rules. But now that you copied it, what's the point?

Yes. And you're rapidly using them all up.

No.  Just no.  No, they aren't on myspleen.  No, will anyone send you links to download them.  That is straight piracy, something that fan editors and preservationists avoid like the plague.  That's the kinda shit that gets us in trouble and sites like OT shut down.

Go find them.  They are on Amazon and Ebay (I just found them for decent prices used).  If you are looking for JUST the Gout releases, there are PLENTY of iso releases online of amazing preservations of them. If you want the special editions (97 or 05), those are still in print.

Do not straight out ask for links to something like this.  That isn't what we do here.  To download any preservation or fan-edit, you are supposed to already own the original material if it is available anyways.  The original Star Wars trilogy is actively available.  Or, and gee I dunno how foreign of a concept this is, but there are TONS of sites that have ISOs up already.  Go Google that shit.

And if you think we are assholes about it, then you can just leave because I guarantee you Mother and the rest of the mod team is gonna be pissed when they read this.

I actually already did google and I couldn't find any that included the DVD menus, that is why I asked. I own the 2004 DVDs, 2011 Blu-rays and I plan on buying the GOUT, but I was just curious to see if I could download them online to preview before buying. I know that isn't exactly legal, but I assure you I plan on buying them.

I like to have the retail versions anyways as I am very picky about quality. I already sent a PM to Silverwook apologizing for my actions and I will send one to Jay & Moth3r as well. I know I haven't been the greatest at following your site rules, but I am new to this and am learning.

I did not realize how strictly you guys enforce the rules. I like this site a lot, it has been one of my favorites I have visited concerning this issue, but I am not used to this strict of forum rules as I am used to chatting on IMDB, facebook, yahoo groups, milleniumfalcon.com, and other sites that don't seem to monitor or care about what you say as much.

I apologize and I will straighten up moving forward.
