Hey Harmy,

It sounds as if most Blu-ray authoring programs have a limit of eight audio tracks. I don't know if anyone has suggested this, but if you can't put every language on one disc, why not make a couple of customized, regional versions like Hollywood does?

You could create, say a "North American Edition" with:

  1. 5.1   DTS-HD-MA   [English]        (1977 70mm six track mix)
  2. 2.0   DTS-HD-MA   [English]        (1977 35mm stereo mix)
  3. 1.0   DTS-HD-MA   [English]        (1977 35mm mono mix)
  4. 2.0 Dolby Digital [English]        (1985 Laserdisc mix)
  5. 2.0 Dolby Digital [English]        (1993 Laserdisc mix)
  6. 1.0 Dolby Digital [Spanish]        (1980 Latino dub)
  7. 2.0 Dolby Digital [French]         (1977 dub)
  8. 2.0 Dolby Digital [English]        (2004 DVD Audio Commentary)

    And a "European Edition" with:

  1. 2.0 Dolby Digital [German]         (1978 dub reconstruction)
  2. 2.0 Dolby Digital [French]         (1977 dub)
  3. 2.0 Dolby Digital [Spanish]        (1977 Castilian dub)
  4. 1.0 Dolby Digital [Portuguese]     (1980s Brazilian dub)
  5. 2.0 Dolby Digital [Italian]        (1977 dub)
  6. 2.0 Dolby Digital [Polish]         (1995 Voiceover)
  7. 2.0 Dolby Digital [Czech]          (1992 dub)
  8. 2.0 Dolby Digital [Hungarian]      (1984 dub)

Or something like that. A third version could have Japanese and the commentary tracks, etc. You could still include all the subtitle tracks on every version.

Releasing the Blu-ray this way would also make the file sizes smaller, as people won't have to download languages they don't speak.

I know this suggestion isn't exactly elegant, but I do hope it's helpful. =) As always, keep up the great work!

I was going to point out that the flaw in your plan was that the second largest French-speaking city in the world is about a 40 minute drive from the state of New York, but then I noticed the fine print for audio track 7 said "French" :P

I used MultiAVCHD to make a blu ray set for myself it handled all the audio and sub options easy the menu editing is a little too basic for me though. I dont know javascript so it works though. I just used the teaser trailers for the three films as the background.

Forgive me if this has already been addressed. Sadly I don't have time to read all 459 pages and a search was not fruitful. Ive tried twice to download V2.5 from a torrent and both times its stuck at 77%. Any idea why this might have happened? Any help would be appreciated.

Also wanted to add that I've just bought a 180p projector and I want this to be the first and last version of Star Wars I watch on it, apart from Ady's marvellous version of course. Thanks for your continued, brilliant work guys!

This is quite an honor :-) Where are you downloading from? MySpleen would probably be the best choice.

Hey Harmy. An honor? Haha!

I think your work is incredible sir. I will have to dig out my old myspleen login then. (FOUND IT)

Just got a torrent from a google search. Can't remember where.

Are you on twitter?

Jambe Davdar: Did you get your username from a "Star Wars Name Generator" too? :-P

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

My sister came up with a Star Wars name game a couple of decades ago. That name was the result!

You mentioned that the password for the CRC downloads is "harmy", but I've downloaded them from the pastebin site, and for "DeEdv2.5.part01.rar", the password is not "harmy". For the other archives, the password is "harmy", but downloading the part01.rar archive from three different sources now, it gives me an incorrect password error.

Which password does that "DeEdv2.5.part01.rar" file have?

palswim what is your part01's CRC ?
Is it F1FB9AFD ?

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

I've just thought of something - the DeEd has an isolated music track - is it possible, then, to make a soundtrack with the voices and sound effects isolated? Sort of an inverse thing? (After all, if the soundboards can do it..)

Ol’ George has the GOUT, I see.

The isolated music track is not sourced from the film soundtrack itself, but rather the releases of the soundtrack albums.

There was a thread on removing music from certain dialogue sequences earlier, and as I recall the verdict was that it could be done in isolated cases but wasn't something viable for long stretches of the film.

“That’s impossible, even for a computer!”

“You don't do ‘Star Wars’ in Dobly.”

I figured as much. Still, it might be worth a try.

Watching SW without JWs incredible soundtrack would be just awful :(

I agree, but I also see the utility of an isolated dialogue track for fan edits and the like.

Could you post your multiAVCHD project file? The options on that program are a little bewildering and I'd appreciate a working starting point.

Thanks

Hey there! I'm having the same problem as Jambe Davdar. It looks like MySpleen has invite-only registration... Does anybody have an invite?

I have a previous version of Harmy's edition, and it's been my definitive copy for a couple years. So I would love to check out 2.5.

Thanks so much, folks.

It is. I eventually decided to compile the unrar utility myself and try a unextract utility other than 7-zip. With the unrar utility I compiled, I was able to extract the files correctly.

I think 7-zip would give me that error when trying to open the .part01.rar archive if any of the archives had errors in them (but it didn't tell me which). The unrar utility helped me find the files that had the errors and target them for re-download.

Thanks for your help!

Yeah, Jambe already released this as a separate DVD, so if you wanted, you could get it (I think it's on Spleen) and burn it and put it in the box with the DeEd.

I like the idea of these two sitting side by side!

So do I :-)

Maybe someone more technically capable than myself might want to create a blu-ray with both on one disc, and maybe also the revisiteds once ESB finally comes out wink wink nudge nudge :)
