Info: Star Wars Derann Super 8mm Scope/Stereo Sound Feature Film - on eBay

Oh no! Not again!

There are two of these in private hands around here though. I suspect the Cinevision print being worked on has a slight advantage over Derann, but we'll see. ;)

By all means keep looking out for these. That auction doesn't even show up in the U.S. for me. A complete Super 8 of ESB has yet to come up, and Jedi only shows up once in a blue moon. I'm keen to locate a 16mm of the two Jedi making of docs, especially Making of a Saga.

And if you spot a print of THX 1138, yell. ;)

Any idea what condition ESB is in? I've heard conflicting versions about the condition of the source used. Also that it was someone other than Derann that released it.

Derann never released ESB on Super8, no-one did.

The condition is pretty good, not quite as good as a derann release but it has really good colour on the first couple of reels and great colour on the last reels.

Considerably better than the Cineavision of Star Wars for example.

It used to only be available on slightly yellowing film stock, but is now available on brand new poly stock so should have better colour. It is taken from a foreign negative, so the crawl is not in English, but the audio is English or German depending on the print. Both are from the same source.

I've still got a 16mm version of SPFX The Empire Strikes Back that I got off ebay a while back. I need to sell the damn thing!

Man... what we need is a 16mm print of From Star Wars to Jedi!

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

I'm selling my Derann print if anyone is interested. I'm talking with someone right now but nothing solid.

Re: the ESB print. It can be had for less than a grand but it's still up there. Maybe ~$750. It has German titles but since it's got a mag stripe, it can be dubbed with english sound.

I know of people who own them. I don't know of anyone who'd sell. If memory serves this is also available as a German print. Don't know if it's still available and it's not up to Derann standards in color or sharpness. I'll let you know!

I have a print of the teaser Revenge of the Jedi. I'm going to try and scan it soon. Not the same I know:P

A German Super8 print would be better than nothing! :-)

Is it by the same company that does the TESB one?

Well it's the same distributors. These new Super 8 prints are dupes from release prints so they are a copy of a copy. I dont know if you'd want to shell out the extra $$ unless you really want to project it.

Derann's were all struck from a pristine negative.

Do you happen to know if the super 8 prints of ESB uses the 35mm cut version of the film throughout in terms of film elements? I guess they do but it would be damn cool if they somehow was sourced from the 70mm cut film material such as the one from Ken Films with select material.

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.
