May I ask why Ln-8k is my only option? I don't want you to give away your strategy, but I can't see what's wrong with S-8k. :S

When I capture your silver with my lion, it is defended. The only pieces capable of reaching that square are the king (who would then be killed by the dragon horse) and the lion (which cannot capture a defended lion when two squares away). Therefore, it would be checkmate.
I see it now. I'll play your suggested move...
Ln-8k
I should also point out that any other piece you attempted to block with (bishop, free king, or side mover), would immediately be captured by igui. You'd be one more piece down and your king would still be in check. The least bloody defense is to take the plunge and sacrifice the lion, hoping you can save as many other pieces, most of which would not be in immediate danger from me.
Oops, posted after the fact. If you don't mind, I will play the next three moves for us as I anticipate they will be exactly thus, and then I will have to call it a night, as I have to be at work early in the morning.
DHx8k check (I think I just figured out the symbol for check in shogi: #)

I really enjoy our games. It's nice to have a passionate shogi partner after all these years, even if you are less than half my age and far away. Don't give up the fight: you are a good player and have continually rebuffed my lion when I sought to make an incursion. This fight ain't over, and you may do something brilliant I had not even seen. Good night.

This game is too complex to play at work, and lately it's been too hard to find the time anyway, so my next move will probably be late tonight.
Which dragon king? You've got one on one on 7d and one on 5e.
Regardless, my move is B-10d+
My apologies. I moved the one on 5e to 7e. DKx10d. You may have made a mistake with that move (I'm not sure, since I see a benefit to what you've done), but if it was, you may take it back.
Thanks, I see that I didn't mean "regardless," as I moved the other dragon king which would have made me safe. However, since I should have been paying more attention, I'll let you have it and continue on with the move P-3g.
No, I don't think that's fair for you. Take your move back. I didn't specify, and even though I read your message at work, I didn't remember which one I'd moved till I got home and looked at my board. It was unfair to you, so you should go back and try something else.
Alright, if you insist. :)

I really hope I didn't miss something because I don't want to lose that piece, especially with my lion already gone.
I don't blame you. Of course, now you've got a powerful piece running loose in my territory.

Last move, as I really should be in bed now.
R-8j
Me too. Another long day of work tomorrow.

In the slim chance I actually get to make a move or two while at work tomorrow, I will post this picture. Plus, you can double check our positions.

Wait, what have I done?! Now I'm going to lose my free king...
FK-11h
I'm afraid so. I did have him trapped, but you could have held out a little longer. Lnx11h igui

I have a move in mind, but I hesitate to make any more moves without having moved the pieces so I can better visualize the situation. I'm pretty sure I'd be safe, but I feel if I could see it, I'd either be able to see any better alternatives, and I know I wouldn't make any mistakes. So it'll have to wait till I get home.
Alright, I'm glad I waited, considering I just messed up my chess game. Of course I was going completely by memory, and I misremembered the pawn position. I didn't have any pictures for reference. :( Anyway, Ln-10g
Well, I'm sure Warbler will let you have your move back. I was going to say something, but I didn't think you'd see it until you got home anyway.
P-12h
Yes he did, and I'm glad he did. That was a pretty bad move. I obviously don't memorize the board very well.
