We have plenty of lefties in the States. Hell, our President is a leftie.

It's just that the righties and the extreme righties are, in general, very loud and very obnoxious and thus more interesting for media coverage. If anything, with the way things have being going here recently, the country is probably leaning more leftie than rightie.
