Best Jane Eyre ever. I suggest you all pick up the BD from Twilight Time.

Since I was away we also lost John Fortune 74 (and not John Sessions as the other half thought).

And Phil Everly also 74.

I have been a big Everly Brothers fan off and on but I was more suprised by how young they must have been when they had their greatest hits than Phil's death. I always assumed he was much older.

What are Gilligan and the Skipper and others going to do now?    How will they ever get off the Island without the help of the Professor?

Pete Seeger

1918-2014

Sad to hear this, even if he lived a long life. He's one of the greats I'd like to have met. I absolutely love a lot of his music, and without him, I doubt folk would've become as popular as it did. Certainly wouldn't be near as many banjo players.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

My favorite black hole obsessed mad scientific genius. :(

I was thinking if that remake ever gets off the ground, the original cast ought to get cameos or something. Only Robert Forster, Timothy Bottoms, and Yvette Mimieux are left now.

Damn, Maximilian Schell was in some of my most favourite films...

1974 The Odessa File (Ronald Neame)
1977 Cross of Iron (Sam Peckinpah)
1977 A Bridge Too Far (Richard Attenborough)

The details so far are here.

:-(

Such a pitty, he was at the top of his acting game and so young. He'll live on in celluloid in Capote, Doubt and The Master.

Very Sad.   Another great actor dead.

I remember my mother telling me she was already dead, and that was back in 1996.

Shirley prompted one of my favorite Babylon 5 moments.

LENNIER: What kind of drink is that?

VIR : I'm not sure. The bartender called it a Shirley Temple.

LENNIER : I've studied many Earth Religions and I don't think I've heard of that particular temple.

VIR : Me neither... but it's real good.

My condolences, Puggo. Someone I knew in a different fandom died unexpectedly a few weeks ago, and I'm still a bit shook up over it.
