What in the EU would you keep?

We all know that the EU's going to get at least a partial reboot in the near future. So, with that in mind, what parts of the EU would you like to see remain -- or added, if you wish -- in the canon? It can be anything you want -- complete stories, individual people, places, or things -- anything.

Here's my list:

NOVELS

The Thrawn Trilogy

I, Jedi

The Corellian Trilogy

The Hand of Thrawn Duology

Dark Forces: Soldier for the Empire

Dark Forces: Rebel Agent

Dark Forces: Jedi Knight

COMICS

The pre-ROTJ Marvel Star Wars comics (this includes the main series along with the various one-shots and most of the UK stories, but none of the Ewoks or Droids stuff)

The Star Wars newspaper strip by Archie Goodwin and Al Williamson

Tales of the Jedi: Ulic Qel-Droma and the Beast Wars of Onderon

Tales of the Jedi: The Saga of Nomi Sunrider

Tales of the Jedi: The Freedon Nadd Uprising

Crimson Empire

Mara Jade: By the Emperor's Hand

Star Wars Republic #27: "Starcrash"

The Bounty Hunters: Aurra Sing

Star Wars Tales: "Extinction"

Star Wars Tales: "The Princess Leia Diaries"

Star Wars Tales: "First Impressions"

Star Wars Tales: "Storyteller"

Star Wars Tales: "George R. Binks"

A Valentine Story

SHORT STORIES (I really need to re-read a lot of the short stories, so don't consider this a comprehensive list)

"The Most Dangerous Foe"

"Dark Vendetta"

"A Tale from the Dark Side"

"Light and Shadow"

Most of the history of the Sith I'd keep, apart from the massive gulf between the the SWTOR saga/2nd Great Galactic war to the rise of Banite sith is hardly written about. Figures like Darth Desolus and other Sith are basically unwritten about, and it would be great for some writer to fill the details in. I'd like to see the fall of Revan/Malak retconned, as its basically a slight retelling of the OT. Forget that!

Meh, probably nothing. Not that I think it's all without merit, but I just think hitting reset completely is better.

I would NOT keep SWTOR. SWTOR is one of the three parts of the EU that I hate most.

Author

Nothing.   ...and because I consider the SE, TPM, AOTC, and ROTS badly executed fan edits/ films they would be out as well with ROTJ on probation.

That said, I will continue to treasure the Marvel Comics, the Archie Goodwin comic strip, the Daley Han Solos trilogy, the Lando Calrissian trilogy, the Thrawn Trilogy, the Infinity OT comics, The Star Wars comic, The radio dramatizations, The novelizations of the OT, and Splinter of the Mind's Eye regardless of their status.

I love how the Jedi in Jedi Academy Trilogy through The Unifying Force are different from the prequel Jedi. I want Jedi that embrace positive emotions, allow attachment and marriage, etc.

Palpatine not needing his lightsaber, but using it anyway to humiliate his opponents.

Yeah, SWTOR is awful. I'd love to see it go.

Just curious, have you two even played SWTOR? If so how much of it?

In general, I would keep people and places from the film and post-ROTJ eras that occur in several books, video games etc, but not all the stories. Keep stories that expand on the story of side characters we see in the movies, such as the bounty hunters, etc..

Do away with weird science (that belongs in Star Trek :-þ ), Force mumbo-jumbo, surviving Jedi, new superweapons, aliens from outside the galaxy, etc.

Some post-ROTJ EU characters have many fans, and I think that it would be a bad move of Lucasfilm to just delete them. I am thinking primarily of the Rogue Squadron, Mara Jade, the Organa-Solo kids. Perhaps Kyle Katarrn, but I am not sure.

I would not mind if the pre-prequel eras EU was wiped completely.

Whatever happened in the 2D CLONE WARS CARTOON and in "STAR WARS: Republic Commando" video game. Every else... can go.

I would not mind if the entire prequel era was wiped completely (not just EU of course).

The tried and true good stuff that feels as if it is in the same universe as the films; chiefly the Daley Han Solo trilogy, the Thrawn trilogy, Splinter of the Mind's Eye, Jedi Apprentice and the better of the 90's Bantam era.

Toss out the NJO crud. (I still need to try this again and get through NJO onwards.)

But the more simple answer...

Mara Jade.

Done.

Can we just have a Mara movie? Or another book? Or anything?

Pleeeease?

I think we should definitely keep Germany, France, and the UK.  Greece and Spain, on the other hand, really should be booted from the EU.  I'm a little uncertain about most of those other Balkans states or Italy.  And perhaps they should integrate Ukraine.

Vader's thoughts in the ANH novelization about how much larger the galaxy and universe are than the other Imperials on the Death Star realize.

^The novelizations aren't really considered part of the EU, though.

You are technically correct. I just loved that characterization of Vader and I figured the rest of this forum likes the idea of a "big" and largely uncharted galaxy (things I also like).

Here's something I wouldn't keep: all those superweapons.

Don't get me wrong -- I like the idea, too. I've even created a (crude) map of the SW Galaxy which reflects it.

This reminds me that one thing I hate the most about EU is unknown region. The size and location is just ridiculous.

In my backstory, the Terrans who colonized the Known Regions got there by passing through a wormhole which sent them hurtling through time as well as space.

So, from a certain point of view, it's still a galaxy far, far away (far away in time).

Which is why I swapped them around =P

If SWTOR stays canon, I won't see Episode VII.

This statement doesn't make any sense to me. EP7 can completely ignore SWTOR so I don't see why would anyone be concerned with it.

Still you haven't answered my earlier question (just in case you missed it).

Why doesn't it make sense to you? The statement simply means what it says: that I won't see a movie that acknowledges SWTOR.

The reason I didn't answer is because I'm not the one who you were asking, but in case you're wondering, yes, I have played SWTOR.
