Pieces only promote when making a capture in this game, not every move. Thus, your piece would remain a Silver until it captures one of mine. Then it would become a Lance until its next capture, whereupon it would again become a Silver. This makes it easier to predict than Kyoto Shogi, in my opinion. Plus, I like the promotions better than in Kyoto, as strong pieces remain strong, rather than changing from very strong to very weak and vice-versa. That said, I wonder if you wanted to alter your first move.
