sorry for the late reply.

Your last clip was the best looking of the bunch. It still had some noise, but it was very minimal and nothing that stood out like before (no invisible worms). Raising the noise filter higher might start taking away detail. The level you have it now set to looks fine.

If you added no noise filter and just re-did the brightness and contrast on your original HD clip, then going to the avchd route was actually adding in more artifacts than before.

Either way, best clip yet--proceed forward

I would DEFINITELY be up for a true HD version of THE GATE.  I'm trying to get a 1080i torrent over at Cinemageddon, but no one is seeding (I'll have to email the guy who made the original seed to see if he still has it).  Screen caps look great too.

Quick question DJ: I have some MKV files and am using TXmuxer to convert them into blu-ray compatible DVDs to play on my PS3.  Problem is, there is no sound.  How do I fix the audio issue so it will play?  I know I may have to remux the audio from DTS to AC3, but do you go about that so you can play the 720p or 1080p file with sound on DVD on the PS3?

I also know there are HD versions of MOTEL HELL, DERANGED and WAXWORKS from Monsters HD as well...

And yes, FLASH GORDON and SHEENA would be great!  Can't get enough HD Tanya in a waterfall...

Is Flash Gordon still in the works?

I'd LOVE to have an AVCHD of that!

And idea what resolution it will be?

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

PS: if you can release any of these as TS files, that would be great (since I can get the TSmuxer on my machine to properly make blu-ray disc folders that will work on my PS3 that way).

BTW, there are some good examples of good TS files over at Cinemageddon - they have a 1080i MOTEL HELL and THE GATE that look fantastic!

Can I post the links here (just wanting to make sure Muthr)?  If not, PM me for those who want them.

Really?  The ones at Cinemageddon are 3.5 and 6.5 gb in size... which is the standard DVD-5 and DVD-9 sizes.  Granted, their bit rate is around the 5.5 and 7.5 kbps rate (which is okay, but it seems the HD transfers around the 8 to 10 kbps look better naturally), but they are still what I would consider average size and comparable to any MKV file of a similar nature.

I'm just saying that so far TS files are the only ones I can actually get to turn into blu-ray discs in which I can play in full 720p or 1080i on my PS3, which is the end result that I want - all other methods have created major bugs: green bars on the bottom, sound or video not playing, video errors, day-long conversions with HD transfers with dgital artifacts.. you name it.

PS: in regards to tehparadox, I still don't understand why people use MKV when making a TS would work just as well, on top of the fact that it seems so many people have problems with MKV conversion (sigh).

Is there a truly proper way to convert an MKV file to TS that WON'T cause problems?  The TS files on Cinemageddon are main 4.0, whereas when converting MKV to TS with TSmuxer, the setting is usually High 4.1, which results in the green bars on the bottom of the TV screen.  When I convert to High 4.0, I get a video error message.  Is there something better than TSmuxer out there?

The files I have are from 10-25 GB's in size, and like I said,I won't be upping them, that is just to much.

and the ones at CG were re-encoded.

and mkv files can be converted just as easy as .ts files can.

upload a sample of 1-2 min clip that you are having trouble with.

I've done that; MKV files just seem to be a roundabout headache when the file can be muxed into a TS file and work perfectly well.  Either there are audio issues, video issues or non-compatibility issues.  If the TS format holds all the information a MKV format does, why pick the more problematic format?

And I don't understand why you can't re-encode the 10 to 25 gb files you have to 4.5 or 8.5 gb size to fit onto a DVD-5 or DVD-9 the way Rasputin did.   I can understand not wanting to torrent or host a bunch of 10 to 25 gb sized files (since you would need a 1tb hard drive, internal or external, just for your hosted files), but if they can be re-encoded to smaller sizes, retain their HD nature AND be extremely easy to make blu-ray DVD-5s and 9s out of, why not do it that way then the pain-in-the-but MKV version which one will have to convert into a TS file anyways?

Is there a particular program you use to create TS files or a setting in TSmuxer that actually creates workable TS files?  Like I mentioned in detail before, all I get is errors of various kinds.  I'm sorry if I offended you, but just out of my personal experience, MKV sucks.

well to each there own,but mkv does not suck,I used to think that but not anymore, and I am not going to re-encode all my raw HD files and then upload, that is just to much damn work,I will get better results with my full untouched files anyways, plus I have to many projects on my plate now.

just upload a 1-2 min mkv file with the audio/video and let me take a look at it,you are making 1080p AVCHD's right?

The two I am working on now are HOWARD THE DUCK and ALIEN:DC, which are both 720p MKVs.

With HOWARD, I get a video error saying the PS3 can't play the file (during conversion, I set H.264 to Profile: High@4.0), and with the ALIEN:DC, I get video and audio, but the 2.35:1 image is crammed to the top of my Toshiba 65" HDTV with a huge green bar filling the remaining space below (during conversion, I set H.264 to Profile: High@4.1).

My question then is: how do you convert a MKV file to a TS file so I can transfer the HD file onto DVD so it will play the video and audio without green bars, error messages or any glitches?

If you like, I can use the "split and cut" and post it as a torrent.

Are these AVCHD and HD2DVD have the film grain retained? I'm considering seeing if I can find some and I really hate DNR/EE.

I finally bought a Blu-ray player online. The Sony BDP-S360. Can't wait to watch some various titles.

Possibly due to the fact that the thread is 5 years old.

Interested in "THE GATE".  Wouldn't it be better to make the HD file into a BD-25?  Anything less than that would hinder the HD quality of the original file, no?  Where and when will you be making this one available, if at all?
