I use a JVC car VHS player. The heads have shock absorption and it plays in dobbly surround.
What's more I have another one still it's box upstairs.
I got these (back when I was astonishingly solvent) because British terrestrial television was beyond crap... Doctor Who was never coming back and if you owned a tuner you had to have a television license which I predicted currectly I would not be able to pay for if I kept buying car VHS players.
The requirements have now changed and you can own a tuner without a license if you can prove within reason that it does not receive a signal.
The picture is the best VHS picture I've ever had.
My now complete Doctor Who VHS collection is as watchable now as some of it was back in 1986.
