I guess that's due to the writing more than the directing, though.

Problem was that although Branagh could direct actors and comedy like nobody else (Those parts of Thor were on fire) the action set pieces and the whole look of the film were off. Which was probably down to his inexperience in that type of film. For example all the costumes looked like plastic which a fantasy Director would have spotted. Note that all the Asgard costumes were resigned for Avengers by a Director who knew his stuff and all looked real. But overall it was a win because despite some flaws I left Thor with a big grin on my face.
