Thanks for the kind offer. Now, I just have that Warriors auction to fret over. ;)

I thought this thread was kinda abandoned, instead it was me who wasn't receiving updates!

More people are interested in the rare Italian cut that msycamore made, any chance it could reappear on myspleen? At the moment I do not remember where I've put my copy (except for the one in my DVD collection).

Now I have some catching up to do on this thread

I know, sorry guys. Life has been very very complicated in the past year and a half!
Not to mention that last year me and Leo were focused onto finishing the Italian version of Star Wars Despecialized (which came out great by the way).

I still need to finish Italian subs for msycamore's THX project, it's not even that much left to do but still! (last file update was in 2012, sorry msycamore).

So can anyone seed THX italian version for the newcomers? I don't seem to find it on my hard disk

Got the film reel today. My house is a mess again due to more repairs going on, so it will be a while before I have space to set up the projector and see what I've actually got.

Can anyone attend and... basically record on video the entire projection? It would certainly answer a few questions

I am not sure they will let that happen!

Are we sure that it's an original 35mm print?

IIRC, 35mm prints of the SE have surfaced in the past.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

Well, first of all, is anyone from this thread attending the event?

Holy! We need a Ocean's 11 type plan, fast!

I hope someone can at least attend, and tell us if the extended SEN scene is in there. With our luck, this will be yet another version to drive us insane. ;)

On a related note, I finally had the floorspace to set up the projector last night, and screen that reel with the THX tv spot I won last month. I will try to post my cheap, nasty capture of it over the weekend.

There were lots of cool spots for other films, (which would be great for that grindhouse THX I keep thinking of) plus a rarely seen GP rating card. A nice bonus.

Like Vader said on bluray.... Noooooooooooo!

lol hopefully not another version!

I wish someone would go there and film this thing, modern technology is small and hard to notice, we don't need a professional set up with tripod and expensive equipment, a frigging digital camera with a spacious memory card would do, just turn off the viewer and nobody will notice you! I did this with Star Wars, that's how people from this forum got to find out the exact font that was used in the European subtitles to Greedo.

So many questions to be answered here: is the extended SEN scene there? What's the chronology of the trial/arrest? How long is the movie really? does the UK version differ from other European version? Could it be the same as the American theatrical version? In this case nobody would have seen it since the 70s!

Can those google glasses record video yet? ;)

[BFI 35mm label image]

Whoa! Nice find! That label looks old enough to be either Lucas' original cut (with the full SEN & children scene, finally released in 1978) or his next revision (with the SEN & children scene trimmed back some, released in 1983) ... according to my edits/releases theory back on page 61 http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/THX-1138-preservations-Italian-Cut-available-see-1st-post/post/665567/#TopicPost665567 .

@ AntcuFaalb

BTW, is your new technique for hi-quality laserdisc capture of THX 1138 ready for prime-time? (I'm excitedly looking forward to your final set-up and it's results.)

The label on the reel suggests some time between 1990 and 1995 - based on the old London area codes.

But of course the film material itself could be older...

SIGNIFICANTLY better equipment has come my way recently due to the generosity of a good friend of mine.

I'll post more details when it arrives next Monday/Tuesday.

Excited! >.<

On a related note, is anything happening with Puggo's 16mm THX capture?

If someone can point me to a good place to put it, I'll try to upload the tv spot. :)

WeTransfer (we.tl) is fantastic for quickly uploading a large file.

Just saw the 35mm print at the Prince Charles

It's definitely a print from early on, it was pretty rough and beginning to fade. Totally watchable, color came and went from shot to shot.

First time seeing the film, but it included the Buck Rodgers trailer before it, which leads me to believe it's the late 70s rerelease version.

Glad someone here was actually able to see it. :)

Any sign of the extended scene with SEN and the kids?

And here's the tv spot. 120 mb.

Let me know this link works? Keep in mind, this is a cheap, nasty, camcorder shooting off a closet door affair. (And I couldn't find my audio cable, so you can hear the projector, and the film scraping off the very warped plastic reel it came on.) Eventually, I'll get this reel to Puggo, when he's done with other things.
