If you want the crappy yoda and the low quality knock yourselves out.

Those of us who have been here long enough to become a little bit strange, consider there to be two Ep.1 Yodas:  "Creepy Puppet Yoda" (CPY), and the other less interesting one.  So you have confused us elders, by seemingly having misspelled "creepy" as "crappy", and further, upon our slow realization that this wasn't a misspelling, creating consternation amongst those of us who consider CPY to one of the few redeeming features of the movie.  So I am here to set the record straight, the canonical spelling, accepted in all of the various internets, is "Creepy" (always capitalized).  I think that Frink will confirm this forthwith.

Personally I never liked creepy Yoda; it never made sense to me that Yoda's appearance given he's like 900 years old and there's what 25 years between TPM and ESB would change much.

Personally I prefer the CGI Yoda over the puppet from TPM, but in an ideal world I'd of voted for the original Puppet of Yoda from ESB to have been used in the prequels.

I find it hilarious that you guys put that much thought into whether a puppet is creepy or crappy, and I find it even more funny that anybody would prefer an inconsistency with the rest of the trilogy.  But as you said, "The internet is serious business isn't it"

I guess we are just automatically programmed to be a bit odd around a proposed restoration where major elements are changed.

Why don't you just make it your own edit?

You could call it the Possessed Prequel Trilogy and it could spit pea-soup over all those lesser edits with Creepy/Crappy puppets in :-D

You're still taking our posts seriously?

The whole CPY thing sprouted up when it was suggested that TPM was so bad that it was not only unfixable, but that the lousy stuff (Jar Jar, creepy Yoda, etc.) are all that keep it from being just boring, like watching a train wreck ("at least it sucks", I think were the words I used).  Since then, the creepy puppet has acquired a sort of cult status among a few of us (I can't remember who came up with the acronym - wasn't me).

Save Creepy Puppet Yoda!!  :)

I will just make my own trilogy then.  And no I'm not taking your posts seriously or taking offense to them or anything like that.  It's more of a "well, this is their reaction to this topic, so I assume that none of them really give a hoot" type of thing.  Sorry if you thought I was offended at any individual members, because I wasn't.  And I was playing to make my own trilogy, but I probably won't share it.  I'm not going to change the titles of the movies and I'm not going to remove everything that makes the movies what they are... you guys wouldn't like it.

I like it already.

Can we get a Purist version with Crappy Yoda Puppet, please?

Already got it.  It's called the original DVD.

Can I raise a practical question at this point? Are we gonna do Stonehenge tomorrow or in other words is someone going to do a HD presentation of the Phantom Edits?

Absolutely not, don't be absurd.

I'd LOVE to see an HD redo of the Phantom Edit. I just posted about this actually, as long as the original crawl is there, I'm there.

I agree there's too much Jar Jar but it's the only edit I've seen of the movie that has a consistent, cinematic rhythm. I totally understand why others have gone deeper with their edits but it always comes out kind of clunky imho.

But Attack of the Phantom too, by all means. Though that title is silly, I'd advise just using the original titles.

I just watched the DVDs of Phantom Edit and Attack of the Phantom and I was really impressed by the edits in it, though I did think there was a bit too much Jar Jar at first, but watching it a 2nd time with the commentary helped ease me about it.

So I'd love to see an HD reconstruction of this also, especially if someone is able to reinsert Puppet Yoda (even if it was bad) into the Blu-ray footage, if it's used.

I've always wondered why The Phantom Editor never did an edit of Revenge of the Sith.

It's got its share of issues. The annoying voices on the super battle droid for one.

You know, there's not one prequel fan edit that I really like, but the Phantom Editor came the closest to what I prefer. But there were some cuts that he failed to make, or shouldn't have made, that hurt his version. The problem (I feel) is that everyone is trying too hard to make the movies different, instead of trying to improve the film that's already there. Too much butchering of the films only ruins them, and defeats the purpose of the edit in the first place.

The problem with making a HD version of the Phantom Edits is that you'd have to work from scratch, since the source material that was originally used is old. At the time even, he seemed to re-use footage from his original edited VHS copy on his DVD version, and there were things like rotoscoping (I believe) that he managed to do, also.

Bottom line is, you're better off just making your own version, since it would be a lot of hassle in copying the Phantom Editor's work.

Good luck.
