Another MSP mashup (Very pleased with this one)...

"Very first second a screaming icon"

Ian, you put a *greased naked woman* on all fours with a dog collar around her neck, and a leash, and a man's arm extended out up to here, holding onto the leash, and pushing a black glove in her face to sniff it. You don't find that offensive? You don't find that sexist?

I did wonder if The Strokes were aware of that scene when they designed the album cover, I'd guess they were and that was the joke... afterall who hasn't seen that film?

What makes my mashup worse is whose glove it is ;-)

Since I don't get the reference, I obviously haven't.

We were talking about Rob Reiner's "Rockumentary" 'This Is Spinal Tap'. Oh boy if you've not seen that you're in for a treat. In 2011 a poll of comedians in Time Out magazine, it was voted the funniest film ever made (IMO it isn't but it's up there with the very best).

This purports to be the unreleased cover for Tap's 'Smell the glove' LP:

and this is the original Strokes LP:

and this is the type of real Metal LP cover that both (?) are taking the piss out of:

Then watch the "Real Spinal Tap", the documentary 'Anvil! The Story of Anvil', it gets quite emotional. Highly reccomended.

I'm surprised I was the first to do this. I've seen more copies of this album in people's collections than any. It's probably the best mix of great album and great album cover.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Hopefully imageshack won't try to undo the link, but here's another I felt I needed to make.

Hope I’m not derailing the thread, because I’ve been working on a slightly different kind of mashup–creating LP/Star Wars mashup images for some of our favorite preservation projects.

“Too much alteration running through each frame/Too much alteration driving me insane”

“I have found, I have cleaned, I have scanned these dirty reels/Yeah, that’s really great, I can’t believe I did it, but nevertheless, I have done that for you.” -or- “These guys are from Dantooine and who gives a shit!”

“Star Wars showing in a faraway land/Semoga Force bersama dengan kalian”

Unless the respective project maintainers object, I’ll include much higher-res versions of these (suitable for T-shirts and whatnot) in my next Project Threepio release.

If you’re not familiar with any of these, click the image to go to the Wikipedia article about the original.  The middle one’s kinda obscure–I didn’t use the collective team_negative1 identity because it didn’t blend as well.

^^ Yeah cool. The more obscure the better.

I may have to dig pretty deep.  I haven't found a suitable cover for Puggo yet.  Obscure helps in the commercial printing department--some of these words and images are well-known enough that they could be rejected on infringement grounds.

Finally, one for Puggo.

“Occasionally glancing up through the rain/Wondering which of the buggers to blame/And watching for pugs on the wing”

EDIT: Found and fixed what was causing issues with scaled-down images.

^ Very nice work. It would be even better with lots of Coruscant style flying cars all over the sky and Dexter Jettster's diner in the foreground ;-)

I was actually considering having a very subtle blast door closing on one of the buildings, but ultimately laziness won out and I just did the pug and the text.

Oh, but you are right in that there was nothing at all Star Wars-related in my original Puggo image, and that hardly fits the theme.  So I've edited the original image and now there's a small Star Wars element in there that oddly doesn't seem too out of place at Battersea.  I think it has to be pretty subtle to avoid detracting from the whole.
