I did try my hardest to get this edit finished for the end of the year, but you can't control outside forces. with the delay of being able to get the carbonite prop and the bulbs etc this put me back about 3 months. So i would now say that we are looking at a February/ March release.

Great to see your latest update adywan, and your 'canyon' set looked absolutely fantastic!  Your wife will be glad to get her dining area back now. :)

While we all knew you were hoping to get the edit finished in time for Christmas, it's amazing that you are even so close to finishing things up in early 2014 sometime, considering all the many different aspects you've ended up enhancing on this thing recently.  Everyone that's anticipating your latest project knows that you tried extremely hard to get it done before the end of the year, and we thank you for that, but we're all just excited to know that you're continuing to do some awesome work on ESB:Revisited, and don't want you to burn yourself out.

Sure, it's taken a lot longer than you originally anticipated due to various reasons along the way, but it will be worth it to you and us all in the long run to take as much time as it requires to get everything done in a way you're completely happy with.  Any unforeseen mishaps aside, 2014 is gonna be a great year for those of us keenly waiting to see this particular project realised, and we thank you for your continued efforts.

So in the meantime, I'd just like to wish you and everyone else here a very HAPPY CHRISTMAS and a great new year ahead.

Merry Christmas Ady and the rest of the Revisited team!  Thanks for all you and the others do to make these amazing edits come to life!

Hope it really does come out in March (not to rush you), since that is when my birthday is, and ESB:R would be the best birthday present I could ever think of.

Ady, as usual your latest clip looks astounding. It's ridiculous that you have to put up with such nonsense from youtube over your clips. What's hilarious is I can just use my addon to download the entire clip anyways. I hope you had a great Christmas and have a wonderful New Year too! Very much looking forward to the final release!

I know it's a bit late to nitpick, but doesn't the Wampa attack on Luke and his tauntaun still look kind of slow and not as terrifying as it should be, especially on the tauntaun?

Happy new year folks...

Just stumbled upon this video and these AT-AT 3DS Max models are the best I have seen yet so I thought I would post them see if you can get your hands on it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AothYl4evU

Perhaps helpful?

I also did a quick mock up of lukes crash on Hoth with a number of audio ideas but I don't have proper editing software so it is rough but where you hear the sound of AT-AT's firing you will have to imagine the lasers shooting at the snowspeeders and on the actual crash you will have to also imagine the footage reversing and slowing. Not going to bother doing a breakdown of what I did it's not that complicated but it does give the scene more continuity I think.

Obviously the main problem is the distance the AT-AT jumps so I hope that can be or is fixed somehow.

Cool video.  After viewing it, I decided to watch this one about the AT-AT Driver's helmet:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpYkFCVA9Fw

Fascinatingly, the actual colour of the helmet is light grey, NOT white.  All the publicity photos of AT-AT Drivers (which include all that have ever been used on Kenner / Hasbro action figure backing cards) are over-exposed, making the grey appear to be white.  This means every single AT-AT Driver action figure ever made actually has the wrong colour helmet!

I have no idea how much impact this has on ESBR, as the AT-AT Drivers' helmet colour choice is quite naturally Ady's, but if they should happen to appear to be more grey than you remember in the final version of ESBR, don't be surprised :-)

That real walker is certainly something special Jaitea..... bet it eats up batteries though cool find.

@snaketibe yeah at-at drivers are very cool looking but my favourite is the tie fighter pilots that they were modelled off thanks for sharing that video. I wonder who stole the 1 of 2 helmets? And if it is still around somewhere...

I haven't stopped by this forum in almost a year; and it still amazes me how much time, effort and energy Ady has put into this project.

The finish line is in sight, and you deserve a long break between this and RotJ:R

This is what I do, besides fanediting.

I agree, especially since he'll be doing that and the entire PT:R all at the same time (along with ANH:R HD). But then, especially with the PT, there will be so many ideas to prepare them to be worthy companions to ANH:R and ESB:R and so many will be such fundamental changes that it'll take quite a while just to sort through them all and set an official change list before actual production of them occurs.

I have just had a thought about how to better link Star wars to the Empire Strikes Back.

Now although we have to appreciate that some time has passed between the 2 films.

The Star Destroyer on the opening shot that let's out the probes. What if it was in proximity to Yavin like they had sent more forces there but obviously the base is empty and evacuated.

Hence the probes and it would be flying away with the Yavin planets in the far distance. Just trying to tell a better story and be less ambiguous. But that could potentially be a small but missing link to make the 2 films join better right from the get go.

There is also a planet we pan down past on the left which could be a better choice but the idea is the same that would be more a brief glimpse. But I do think it would be the better choice.

So whilst I am posting this I thought I would add this one on... Basically I think the color restoration is quite frankly brilliant on this edit, basically the original theatrical colors are practically 100% nailed but is there any plans to get the POV hyperspace jumps back to there original coloration?

This is similar to the starfield & deflector shield flashes, where recompositing has caused the loss of the original coloration.

 So unnecessary.

so the Rebels have evacuated Yavin and have built and set up a well established base on Hoth , Han & Chewie ran into a Bounty Hunter on Ord Mantell somewhere in between all that,  and the Empire are still wasting time lurking around Yavin sendng out probes?  Doesn't make much sense . I'm not sure of the actual 'canon' timeline between the first two films, but I always assumed it was close to a year.

I was just thinking of it in terms of watching the 1st film and then sticking the next one on straight afterwards if that makes sense now.

I was not considering any particular span of time that was supposed to have passed between the 2 films. It was "Fun" anyway and I made myself chuckle about the idea this morning. :)

Why the hell do we need things like that to 'unify' the two films? They're already unified. They're 2 of a TRILOGY.

It's not like there's a visual style difference like there is between the PT and OT. It's a shot with a friggin Star Destroyer in it. How much more familiar can you get?!

Christ.

Well certainly some time passed. Don't forget that they had time to

  • Pursue the Rebel Forces across the galaxy
  • Run into that bounty hunter on Ord Mantell
  • Establish a new secret base
  • Dispatch thousands of probes
  • Install those new landing gear boxes on the Falcon

So, no, it's a bad idea.

Heh. I'm 99,9% certain you're just trolling now bro. Way too much time and effort gone into the trolling but, yeh. :-D

I mean, better to be trolling than actually thinking in some way or form that that was a good idea to include in your interminable suggestion list. Even more so at this point (meaning many months ago) when everything but minor details + model filming and audio are the only things left to be done.

You just want something, anything to be accepted as a change/"enhancement" by Ady to in some way claim you came up with "that". Whatever it is, from icicles to freaking Yavin?! Come on! lol. The credit list for forum members was closed like 4 years ago if that's what you're after.

It's okay that you came in late in the process to actually contribute when it was a good time to do so, but this is now really getting ridiculous.

Even if it doesn't look like it by all that above, I sincerely appreciate your enthusiasm but it may be best to focus your attention on ROTJ and the PT as this thing is really all but done. Really. :-)

Either way, back on topic. Can't believe we've finally arrived at the final months. Really excited about being able to finally watch and appreciate ESB:R in all its glory. Congrats to Ady of course but also to the great team behind him. Cheers! :-)
