It made sense to me I just thought the transmission of the regenerative energy was a bit too convenient and it's explosive effect would make Gallifrey a very dangerous place to live methinks.

Appealing to the Time Lord's affection for the Doctor was a bit daft too.

They put him on trial twice and attempted to execute him (the only other Time Lord they did that to was Morbius).

The Master meanwhile was invited back and offered a new set of regenerations to save the Doctor (not because they worried about the Doctor but because someone had activated the Death Zone).

The only people to put the Master on trial were the United Nations and the Daleks.

Sherlock is much more silly and incomprehensible.
