The strongest case to be made against Lucasfilm would have to be on the basis of Fraudulent Misrepresentation in regards to their current release of the OT. The fact that they are marketing this set heavily as the Originals, while mkaing no mention of any of the changes, either on the box or in the advertising, is blatant false advertising. When these versions make it to your video store shelf next to the special editions, what's going to happen. If someone rents the "original trilogy" over the special edition, then gets home and discovers that they aren't the OT, who is responsible? Not the rental chain, they didn't package the films. The blame falls on Lucasfilm. What could be gained from persuing this line is a much foggier issue. I should expect very little. possibly just the addition of a special edition tagline to all future box sets and apublic withdrawal of the advertising claim of these films being the "originals", but that's as far as I see it going. It's a fun legal puzzle to ponder though. I've only taken one business law course, so I'm sub-amateur at best, but those are my thoughts on it.
