Baronlando mentioned in an unrelated thread that an HD version of the original 1979 theatrical cut of The Warriors has been spotted in the wild. Has anyone seen it, and does it have the original mono?

I doubt Paramount is going to release this on Blu anytime soon.

I am glad you guys want to do a project with the Dutch Blu of The Neverending Story.

While I've seen a cam-rip excerpt of a Derann digest which suggests that the Warner transfer may not be as far from the original theatrical timing as everyone has assumed (e.g., the Ivory Tower scene does have a golden/dusk cast), they still went too far with the color pushing, contrast-boosting and black-crushing. The aforementioned Ivory Tower scene does have visible hues besides gold and amber in the Derann, which are completely graded out in the US BD.

I think it would be great to take the Dutch BD and adjust the color to something to match the Derann. At this point we only have that Vimeo clip to go off of, which looks a little dark and may look more "LPP yellow" than you'd see if you were actually in the room watching the projection. Maybe someday an actual print will surface somewhere...

I still do not have the Dutch BD so for now this is still in limbo.

Neverending Story UPDATE:

Earlier today, I found this on Amazon UK.

From the description, I thought it could be the Dutch release, so I contacted the seller, and he just mailed me back to confirm that it is.

The upside of buying it this way is that you can use Amazon UK with an Amazon US account. The downside is that it costs almost 2 1/2 times as much as ordering from DVDoutlet.nl (running the exchange rates, about $60 USD vs. about $24.50 USD).

Actually, DVDoutlet.nl isn't that hard to sign up for. I'm going to buy a copy for myself, and I would be glad to send it to you for your project, provided I get it back once it's been ripped.

I live in the uk but the price is kinda high, i would be willing to buy it if nobody else can help. TServo2049 your right DVDoutlet.nl does seem like the best option for the price.

I went ahead and ordered it, it did come to $24.45. Much more sensible than 60 bucks.

As I said before, I would be happy to donate my copy to the project once it arrives, as long as I can get it back once it's ripped.

I wish I would have caught this sooner, I would have loved to add a second copy and I would have paid for it.

It's no problem. I can send you my copy once I get it - all you have to do is send it back once you have it ripped.

If you want to own your own copy, you can also set up your own account on DVDoutlet. It's not difficult, they accept major credit cards. Just click the icon for English and you will see all signup forms and stuff in English instead of Dutch. (For checkout, they don't give payment options in English, but just select the first option, DocData Payments.)

And if you want your own copy and don't want to go through that trouble, you can still PayPal me $25 and I'll buy a second copy for you. No biggie.

Feel free to PM me and let me know which option you'd rather take.

This would be great! I can do this if it is still OK with you.

OK just a small update, we have a lot of "real life" stuff going on in our lives right now and the Holidays are rapidly approaching, that said I just wanted to let you guys know that we are trying our hardest to release 2 more projects before we take a break for a while, 4-8 weeks at most, but we do need a much needed break especially with all we have on our plates now, so hopefully you guys will understand.

I will announce the 2 when I know for sure they will be available, again we are trying very hard.

Thanks

I believe it was on Netflix a while ago.

I'm away until New years and dammit, the Net here sucks. I've just been throttled and can only download 1#B per day at seriously squashed speeds. It's really making it difficult to get the Ninja Trilogy. :( Such is life. Man oh man I cannot wait to get back to my FiOS connection.

Hey wasn't there a thread on released titles? I could have sword there was.

The list of released and in progress restoration project had all its links dead; today I managed to fix all the links, and added a lot of recent (and less recent) entries; maybe I missed some projects, so any new entry is welcome! The link is HERE.

Sadly my projects are lost due to an HDD crash… 😦 | [Fundamental Collection] thread | blog.spoRv.com | fan preservation forum: fanres.com

See you next year, DJ! The Neverending Story Dutch Blu-ray is still in transit from the Netherlands - I got an e-mail back on the 9th that it had shipped, but it hasn't arrived yet. (Not worried, overseas deliveries tend to take quite a while anyways...)

Stay safe. Stay warm. Enjoy!

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

A huge thanks to TServo2049 we now have the Dutch BD of The Neverending Story to go along with my German and US releases.

I am not 100% sure of exactly what all will be on this release, it is still in the planning, but I am pretty sure we are going to have both versions on our release with kick ass audio and both color corrected, it may be a 2-Disc BD25 Set or 1 BD50, we will announce more details when we get closer to release.

Thanks

Some awesome titles in the works here! The Black Hole is especially interesting to me - that film has some gorgeous special effects and should look pretty amazing in HD. Looking forward to Critters also.

What source are you planning to use for the (german) Theatrical Version?

The German extended cut is coming from the German BD release.
