Nowhere in that article does it say why gays should not have the legal right to marry.   In addition, it would have been nice to expand on this:

"In the 1990s, I watched many gay men who had become surrogate father and  surrogate mother figures to me die.  One by one, repeating the tragedy of my mother, they disappeared.  They were all alone except, in many cases, for me.   The gay community treated them with shame"

Just what did these people people that earned the shame of the gay community?   I don't get it. 

As for his complaints about not having a father, I'd like to know more about happened.   Just how did his gay mother and/or the gay community and/or the fight for gay marriage prevent his father from being around?

While the writer's study may be able to argue the straight couples on the average make better parents does it really argue the gay couples on the average make bad parents?  In addition I'd like to see some comparison of gay parents to situations where there is only one parent.
