It should be quite easy to scan as it is in little pieces. In cinemas when the film broke they had a tool to glue or use tape to repair film. As your entire reel is in 6 frames strips I think it will remain like that as a film glued each 6 frames would never resist passing through a 35mm projector. 

I have an idea about how I could use my film scanner to scan my reels (I have the trilogy trailer and the ESB+ROTJ one). I just need to do some tweaking on my scanner so that the film can pass trough it. I'll post some photos to show the setup when it'll be working.
