It's really to early to tell either way. There is a precedent for Disney conceding on one point in buying certain properties. Disney originally wanted all of the Muppets, including the Sesame Street characters. It was a deal breaker for Jim Henson, and his family apparently didn't budge on it either.

George has been sticking to his guns on this since 1997, so it's hard to imagine letting him go so easily.

If the Mouse did release the OT, it's uncertain if they would do it right. They have barely dipped into their live action films on Blu Ray. Mary Poppins apparently didn't get botched like some of the animated films have been recently.
