Star Trek's rebooted series isnt Star Wars and it isnt Star Trek.  It is the byproduct of a guy from one world caught in another.  It's been said many times only because it is utterly true.

It's entertaining but it lacks the form or character of either universe.  Still, I think his first Star Trek demonstrates a few things he can handle well.  The pacing, the comedy, and his eye for casting.  It is a run up to what he now has the opportunity to do.  Into Darkness, on the other hand, lacks the charm of the first film.  It seems half finished.

 Lindelof didn't do any of the writing for the first film. We also have him to thank for Cumberbatch being Kahn.

Also, they're not really competing with each other since Bond is hitting a whole month before ep7.

The real head-scratcher is the Bad Robot-produced M:I-5 hitting within only a week or so of Star Wars. Some people are theorizing it's because Paramount expects Disney to push it back to May of '16. I've even heard the wild theory that the studio bosses know something the rest of us don't and that a December '15 date for Star Wars is only there to keep the shareholders happy until the time is right to announce a new date.

I have to say I'm firmly in the Roger camp. I believe no one could wear a safari suit with the same degree of casuality.

 I log on every once in awhile just to get a good laugh at how wacky they are.  They have one current thread 'ANH vs TPM' and you have to pick which one you enjoy more and why.   You have to read the replies from the people who picked TPM, and why they rank ANH as their least favorite!

I remember years ago I used to argue against my friends who said ANH was the worst. But that was when we were kids. These people are grown adults? Do they have any sense of quality?

TFN is the darkside of being a Star Wars fan first and a movie fan second. I stopped posting there the moment everyone lept to Lucasfilm's defense after they announced they were putting 1993-quality transfers on frickin' dvd. Only a few months later, and just a few weeks after said transfers-on-dvd streeted, I stopped lurking here and started posting.
